I would like to know if it is a scam. I really don't think it is. My mom thinks that it will be a waste of time. It is really my dream to try a pageant. I need to know if it's fun, what it's like, and if it's a scam. also, how to persuade my parents to let me do this. THANK YOU <3

I actually did that one. See...it's quite a bit of money. It always seemed the girls that payed the most for different things won. It was a rewarding experience because I had tons and tons of fun. The whole event was awesome and absolutely amazing for me. However, I'll never do it again. It's kind of shady as well....I'd go more along with the pageant sponsored by Donald Trump (Miss Teen USA) if you really want to do a pageant. That's credible. The credibility of National American Miss is somewhat questionable.
I hope that helped

The letter that you received does not ask you to enter the pageant -- It is an invitation to attend an Open call for you and your family to find out about NAM. I am not sure about the July date -- that could be the date of you state pageant.. There is not a registration fee to attend an Open call session - they are free -- If you attend an Open Call session and are selected to participate in your state pageant- the normal registration fee is waved. If you are selected and invited to participate in your states pageant -- they will ask you for reccommendations of outstanding ladies like yourself that you think would be good candidates to be invited to these information sessions next year. I make these comments based on our daughter being envolved with NAM for several years. I must say that I get tickled at some of the responses -- I just wish before people give you comments and suggestions they had their facts straight rather than babling to sound like they are the all knowing OZ. I suggest you call the ofice that sent you the invitation and visit with them. Also please remember some people don't have a good experience because they don't win--so their excuse is that they did not have a good experience. Regarding crowning 2 queens-- The girl that is crowned a cover girl has nothing to do with the overall pageant. It is like talent or acting -- they are optional. Many girls have won the queens crown and never did any optional, whether it was talent, acting or selling ads.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. Once your parents get an idea it is impossible to change their minds. However they love you and that might be their only weakness!

well, you should research it first. find out what it is about it, and talk to your parents. tell your parents you really want to do this, and tell them why, show them your research.

good luck!
