i think both because if u don't have a defense the other team would score more easily and if you don't have a offense who would help the forwards and score goals.

offense
In soccer offense can be the defense as well. More time spent controlling the ball means less time for the other team controlling the ball and getting into scoring oportunities.
In America we say the best defense is a good offense. This really applies in soccer. Just don't get cought by the counter attack.

Defense.
As long as the defense doesn't let the other team score any points, you could still tie the game even with out having any offense. With out a defense, the other team will just keep getting points and you will definitely lose.

well both of you are right. In order to win you must score at least a goal.. most likely more. But if your defense sucks, then you can still let up more goals than you score.
However the offense can control possession and make it less likely for the other team to create scoring chances

Defense- IS the only way people can win, Becaus the offense consists of Speed and Power, in defense you need Rush and speed and really good eye-cordination? Why.
Because the offensive team can rush right through your offensive team, easily..
Soccer coaches put position for the right people, measured by there skill for the righ tposition offensive sheer foot power speed, defense- cordination rush and speed~
You can win with offensive, but you can lose with diffensive more times than you can score, because soccer is not so easy... defense get more chances than offensive does, in high leagues.

I prefer watching an offensive powerhouse but if I had to pick as for winning super bowls, I'd choose defense. I still think the 1985 Chicago Bears were the best team ever with that defense.

You are right. You can't WIN if you can't score. You can at best TIE with a great defense. So offense is slightly more important if your "goal" is to win the game.

Every position is equally important. Every player has to do a good job on his position in order to win the game. But i admit that watching a team that plays more offensive football is a bit more interesting and exciting.
