He's only a freshman and he's getting braces.
And he's freaking out about it, how many of you had braces when you were a high school freshman (like 14-15 years old)?
And how much did it affect your high school life?

I got braces the end of my freshman year. So many people have braces when you're in high school, it's really no big deal. If you already know how to kiss, that should be no problem either. ;)
I think my braces added character to me when I had them. It'll be cool getting bands that match your date's dress when you go to a dance & stuff like that. You might have to be more careful while eating at lunch to make sure nothing gets stuck, but its reallllly not a big deal (hint: tear the food into pieces instead of taking big bites right out of something).
Also, I dated several people while I had them, so the braces changed nothing about that aspect. If anything, your friend should be MORE confident and smile more often. Hope this helps!

Ma Cousin is 22 years old and she starting had a Braces on da age of 16 but she still have a braces today.Nobody Tease her or look at her Braces becoz it doesn;t matter you should tell your friend Quit Worrying,if your friend is Sensitive what people say just take it lightly to him OK.

i had braces from age 12-16. it didn't affect me much socially. that's not to say i was super popular, i wasn't. i was kind of shy and quiet, but i had my circle of friends. other people knew me and yes i did get some ribbing about it, but if you ignore it, it cant affect you. and remember, the personality you had before the braces should be the same personality you have after wards. you will just have some hardware now and quite a bit of pain. and you have it better these days, because you can get them in colors or even better, they have them in clear. if you get the clear, no one has to know what you have going on in your mouth and you get to be real cute at the end when the teeth are all straight.

Lots of people get braces at this age, only a lucky few don't need them. He may get a little teasing for a week or two, but it's not the end of his social life. His friends will still be his friends, and girls will still be just as likely to date him (or not).

Lots of people wear braces. It is only for a while, when he is 21 he won't even remember it

i had braces when i was a freshman and nobody picked on me...ur friend should be ok as long as he looks confident nobody should make fun of him... plus everyone comments on how great u look once u get them off and that makes up for any teasing!
