A little trick to some of these older machines is in the arm there is a compartment for extra needles to be stored. These older models would come with one or two extra needles. So if no one had taken these needles out there should be one there, if that is this is the model that has this!
No do not let it go to waste, heck if you were in my area I would LOVE to have such a machine for our thousands of vinyl records we have!

It's OK to tell someone if you break something like that. Accidents happen. You can go in tomorrow and tell the teacher, "Hey, I think I accidentally broke the record player needle. No one was around, so I wasn't sure what to do." Then the teacher will fix it. At the most, your parents would be charged for a new needle, but most teachers are sensible. If the teacher gives you trouble, tell your parents. Again, most teachers are sensible.

yes, but needles are expensive. Your best bet is to buy a new record player at good will for 5-10 bucks and put it's needle in your record player. It also gives you replacement parts. pull out the needle with a pair of pliers and use a pair of tweezers and some super glue to replace the needle.

Yes. go to a specialist old (vinyl) record store they should be able to point you in the right direction. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that old fashioned vinyl sounds much better than remastered cd, crackles and all!.

Yes, but you may need to do a little hunting around for one... Try checking Amazon or any of the home entertainment stores (Circuit City, etc).
