I'll have my TEFL certificate by July and I would like to go to Italy and Spain to teach English as from September for a year. Can anyone recomend any good language schools or cities to go to? Milan and Bologna are out, I've lived there and hated it.

thanks

Re Cameron: I hated Bologna because I found the city too small and there wasn't enough for me to do. I'm from Manchester which makes Bologna look like a small village. Milan, the general feel of it; weather, people not so friendly, cost of living.

I currently live in Northern Italy (one hour north of Venice) and I love it. It would be easier to answer this question if we knew why you hated Bologna and Milan...?

There is a lot of in-company work in Torino. You'll work long days and split shifts when you're first starting out, but there's lots of work. I really liked Torino- it's big (nearly 1,000,000 people), affordable, close to the mountains, not far from the sea and there are great art and nightlife scenes. You can live affordably in the center and walk everywhere.

If you like chaos and don't mind keeping your hand on your purse, Naples might be a good choice. It's fairly big and it's got great access to all the cute Amalfi Coast towns. Similarly, Genova is a little rainy but so close to the 5T and France. Genova has this amazing, kind of creepy medieval city center and a very diverse population.

There are LOTS of TEFL jobs in Barcelona, which is a fantastic city and one that is wonderful to live in, but they don't pay very well. It's so popular that wannabe teachers are willing to accept EUR 9 per hour GROSS, and those poo-heads have driven down the wages for teachers big-time. I've heard Valencia is a decent place for TEFL work, but it's probably not big enough for you.

For European jobs, the site below is best.
