I am currently living in Indiana, but my goal destination is Ricerside California. I know it is going to take a lot to get there, but I don't really know how much it will cost me or if the over all idea is bright or just a hopeless dream?

Are you sure you want to move to Riverside?? It is one of the more affordable areas in Southern CA but it's getting more expensive and quick. The smog is absolutely terrible b/c it all blows inland and gets trapped there. The traffic is getting worse by the day, The Riverside Freeway (SR-91) between Riverside and Orange County is one of the worst in the state. And the crime is not the greatest, lot of meth heads there and many of LA's inner city gangs are moving out to that area and bringing the problems with them, which is why LA's crimte rate is dropping but places like Riverside and San Bernardino are seeing increases; stay far away from Moreno Valley or Compton East as I call it. Tons of families move out there so they can buy a house, not the best place if you're young and single and are looking for an active lifestyle. The closer you are too the coast the better but the more expensive. It's basically the area people go to escape the high housing prices of the coast b/c they want a big single family home.

You would probably need at least $2-3k to get housing for the 1st month, not sure how much moving expenses would be b/c that depends on how you get here and what you bring. utilities will be higher inland b/c you need AC all summer long in Riverside, you don't really need it near the coast. CA has some of the highest electricity rates but we also use the least amount per capita in the nation so it probably just evens out compared to everywhere else. Gas will be higher once you get here but it's reasonable right now. Last summer it hit $3.50 where I live in San Diego and was close to the same in Riverside. And there is little public transportation in that area so a good car is essential. I think if you had at least 4-5K you should be good for a month or two. But I would research Riverside a little more and make sure it's what you are looking for.

Why don't you start by looking at Craigslist -- for the Riverside (Los Angeles) area? The hardest part about moving to a different state is having money. Look for a job and a place to live on Craigslist. That should give you some idea of the pay-scale in your field and the rental rates for your destination. With some good planning, you can do it easily!

Go on line and look at apartments or houses to rent out there and get an idea of how much it will cost for 1st, last, and deposit. Then get a quote on renting a u-haul truck. And then expect to pay as much as $500 to get your utilities turned on. I would guestamate you are probably looking at close to $5000. Unless of course you don't need anything but a single suit case then you can fly out or take a train or bus. You might be looking at about $3500 - $4000 then. It all depends on your resources. Once I moved from California to Arizona for the price of three plane tickets because my parents lived out there and I was able to stay with them for a while until I got on my feet.

I moved from Indiana to Florida approximately 4 years in the past. It incredibly isn't that undesirable. in accordance with how lots stuff your shifting I advise getting movers to force your issues for you rather of using a uhaul your self. lots much less perplexing. in spite of the reality that, it took them 2 weeks to get right here. It became well worth it reason it became much less difficulty on me. different than that there's no longer lots to declare. i'm shifting as much as long island in approximately 2 months and that i purely advised my mom i wanted a clean adventure. Your mum and dad probable should not be to satisfied on the commencing up, yet their recover from it.

It is quite easy to move. All you need is to get a new license plate, drivers license, etc. However, keep in mind that california in general is VERY expensive. You must have a good job to even get an apartment.
good luck.
