Question: I want your opinion?

Question Details: okay I have had enough of hearing from 2 faced politicians. I want opinions from americans..not democrats and not republicans..americans let me state my case and then give me your opinion. firstly front and center is winning this war in iraq and leaving iraq right..as fast as we can do this with a victory. since when did winning a war not mean victory front and center..seems the last time we really won a war straight up..mano ..a mano was the second world war..We accepted nothing less than total victory and it cost a hell of a lot of american and allied lives. remember there was no compromise..In germany if they got caught with a gun it was summary execution by the officer in charge. the germans adapted to this and a huge military repsence brought stability. We seems to have lowered our standars a lot havent we...now we are in a tough spot..cut and run or cowboy up and let the military do this cloves off!in other words **** OR FIGHT..

The portion of the war the military is capable of winning is over. They toppled Saddam's regime. The peace is not being won.
The is a marked difference between post war Germany and post war Iraq. The German populous was engaged in a long war. They were tired of war. They were beaten as a people. The Iraqis were not involved in the war against Saddam. They didn't put up with a long drawn out pounding as did the German people. In other words, the fight wasn't out of the Iraqi people. That's why they engaged in the civil war that is going on now.
There is very little our military can do to stop a civil war of this nature. Sending more troops may put a temporary stop to the conflict. But, it will only flare up again until the friction between the different factions is settled.

I like your outlook. You've got lots of spunk.

The problem is, the world is different now. In Iraq, for example, the citizens are allowed BY LAW to have one firearm per household. No joke. So, you can't arrest (or execute) someone for walking around with a gun.

Also, some neighborhoods simply are not being protected by the police, so they have been tacitly allowing private squads of citizens to police these areas.

In terrorism, the enemy does not wear a uniform. There is no way to get terms of unconditional surrender from the terrorists because they do not operate on behalf of any one government or group. There is no one empowered to sign a treaty or surrender.

What Iraq needs to do is declare these terrorists as TRAITORS to their own country, and hold swift, military style executions.

That might slow down this rebellion a bit.

exactly right...war is brutal and america is trying to run a politically correct war for the bleeding heart libs...i say let the military have at it and shut these terrorists down...got a gun..??? you get shot....if you are around a terrorist and get shot or bombed...too bad...in a mosque...too bad..turn them over to us for your own good or get what they get....just too many restrictions on our soldiers...i say cut em loose....the war onm terror would end in a month and a lot of countries would fall into line and be decent or get what they deserve....

I am tired of everyone trying to compare the war in Iraq to WW2... there is NO COMPARISION... WW2 was country against country... you knew where your enemy was at... now these jihad idiots are spread all over this planet, so we do not know where they are going to come from... totally different ballgame... hang in there to win...

LIBERAL DEMOCRATS WANT SOLDIERS TO DIE AND THE U.S. TO LOSE FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES

They don't care about the soldiers. They are all crocodile tears. Ninety-one percent of soldiers are conservatives.

Just pray that the President's surge works.
