If you have a warranty, it would be with the independent or else from a third-party vendor, but because you didn't mention that you have one, I will assume that you don't have a warranty.

Most likely, you are on your own for fixing the head gasket.

Head gasket failure on a Neon isn't uncommon, but it's not the sort of thing that Chrysler is going to warranty on a 10 year old car and the dealer you bought it from probably didn't offer more than a 30-day warranty or something similar. Any type of payment by the warranty company or independent dealer will completely depend on what the contract says about their liability for repairs. most of them will put a limit on mileage and time so you need to check that out.

Head gaskets can fail for a number of reasons but the most common is overheating caused by a broken or stuck thermostat. if you do have the gasket replaced, be sure to go through the cooling system to make sure that everything is working properly and there is no oil residue leftover in the coolant.

Depending on how badly the headgasket is blown, sometimes you can drive the car for months before you suffer a catastrophic failure. But it is something that you are going to have to do in the near future at a minimum.

If the head gasket just blew out then:By this time any manufacturer's warranty would have run out. Unless, you purchased some additional warranty from the used car place when you got it there they you may have to have it fixed yourself.

If you just now realized that the car has had a blown head gasket since you bought it then maybe the dealership you bought it from may be liable partially because they didn't sell you a working car to begin with.

You are fully liable to pay for its repair.

Although warranties are transferable to new owners the car is way too old to be within warranty. If memory serves correct that car new only had a 3 year engine/powertrain warranty. Mileage wouldn't matter by now

The car is 11 years old. Why do you think Chrysler should pay?
You are responsible for the repair.
