Hi , suppose u want someone to download a letter from ur site. The letter u must have been written before/ then compresse the letter using winzip. For example:
"Download letter here" link this to the document u have compressed
eg doc.zip, when a user will download it thus clicking on "Download letter here" , the download accelerator would be activated on the*.zip file and started downloading the file automatically. I tried it and it work on the server. bye bye and nice programming

Really simple.
All you need to do is type some text then link it to the document that you want to be available for download.
So, for example; if I had a job application form that I wanted to be available to people I would put in some text on the webpage relevant and type something like "JobApp" or if it's a new picture of a workplace or something "New workplace".
The problem with doing is this is that I don't know what software you are using to build your site which would be useful to know.
Once you've done that then you need to underline and then right click that text if you are using Dreamweaver MX 2004 or 8 and then select "make link" - you then select the file you want for downloading and click ok, save the page, upload to your site then all the user has to do is right click on the text and select Save as... (like you probably realise aleady).
Please can you say whether you are using Dreamweaver 2004 or 8 or whether you're using other software, as this will let me be able to help if you're not using Dreamweaver.
Hope this helps.

Something like the following:
Get the file.
Note: You cannot control how the file is treated on the user's computer. For instance, you cannot control whether the file is just downloaded, or whether a particular program on the user's computer opens the file automatically. The user always has the option of some sort of right-click or shift-click combination that will allow the user to choose something other than his computer's default method of dealing with the file type you are linking to.

To put files for others to download use the same href linking as you do for HTML or other pages.
Just put the name of the file with extention instead of page name.
When user will click on it, he will get an option to save it or run it.
Dont forget to ensure that file exists where the link is pointing.

Basically you would use the element tags:
the name users will see in order to click that's it. The user has the option to right-click the link (if it contains no text), or allow the page to load and then right-click the desired embed.
