I love this book, it's my favorite. If you love to read then I don't think it would be too challenging, you sound mature enough to understand it.

I am a writer (journalist/nonfiction) and read "To Kill A Mockingbird" at about your age, also when getting straight As, etc. I don't think it would be too challenging for you at all. I think you will really like it. It's the kind of book you can read now and then read 5 years from now again and pull different things from it each time. If you haven't seen the movie, see it after you read the book and compare and contrast them.

Hey Ryan...

As many others have said, I believe that just by you wanting to read it shows that you are more than capable of tackling the book.

I will pose this question to you to answer once you've read the book, Why is the book called, "To Kill A Mockingbird"?

There is a hidden message about the name of the book that most don't know or understand unless you were born in a different era. Can YOU answer it?

:o)

No, I think that young people your age a more knowledgeable about the world and about people than when I read the book as a 16 year old over 30 years ago. I think that the messages of the book are just as relevant today. Enjoy !

The challenge it would present depends on your maturity level. This is a book I read when I was about your age, but it totally went over my head (I had all A's and loved to read). I read it for school in 9th grade and, by that time, I totally grasped this. So, like I said, it depends on how mature you are and how well you can grasp some of the mature concepts and ideas this book will present.

Not at all! You will enjoy this book, very much.
When you have a hard time while reading, I suggest that as you read, you make a movie in your mind. Take enough time as you're reading to see your movie in your mind, and be there. This style of reading will help you to better understand the story and to remember it as well. You read on girl, and never be timid as a reader, be brave and stretch as far as you can!

sorry i don't know the page numbers. but i do know the context of the reference. atticus finch was explaining to scout that mockingbirds do nothing but make music. they do no harm. that is why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. If you remember where in the book that is... hope this helps!!! god bless

If you read a lot, you should be able to read this wonderful book, especially if you're doing well in school, too. If the book seems too much, the movie is available on video, and probably on DVD, too. It's fairly faithful to the book and I highly recommend both.

I love this book and I think I read it around your age as well. Try reading it and see how it goes. If it doesn't capture your interest or if you think it's too challenging, you can always read it later on.
