Did it really hurt?? What were your thoughts?? Can you remember and describe, what you felt during the contractions and if so, what you said in those moments to your partner??

Yes, it really hurt. My thoughts were, "****, ****, ****, this hurts." During the contractions I felt like I had to poop and I really needed to push, but they wouldn't let me. I didn't say anything to my fiance. I was ignoring him, so I wouldn't cuss him out and he was too fascinated by everything going on between my legs to even notice, if I had said something to him.

The only pain I can really remember with any certainty, was the pain of disappointment when I had a c-section in stead of giving birth. I had a long labor about 18 hours, 8 of those hours was pain-med free. From 1 - 5 cm's, on pitocin. The doctors kept upping my pitocin amounts because I wasn't dilating at 1 cm an hour, ( a magic formula that ALL women are to do, to avoid intervention.) Not all women dilate at 1 cm per hour, and have perfect babies!

As you can see I am quite bitter with my c-section. First it was the disappointment of having one, but then finding out much later that there were things that the Dr.'s didn't tell me that I could have done to prevent the c-section, bitters me.

Please check out this book:
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
It is filled with all kinds of knowledge on labor & delivery, the things the Dr.s don't tell you was shocking!

As far as physical pain, the pain from the recovery of the c-section was horrible, I was on vicodin, for almost 2 weeks after delivery!

With my first child, it was not too bad.. the contractions felt like an upset stomach ache. On the way to the hospital, I told my husband that I changed my mind & did not want to have a baby. I was given pain medication thru an IV. The worst part was the stitches afterwards.

My second child was totally different!!!! I was in labor for 36 hours. This one felt like really bad cramps. When my water broke, my husband rushed me to the hospital. As soon as I got there, I wanted to push. Five minutes after arriving at the hospital, he was born. My baby arrived before the doctor did. I did not say anything to my husband eventhough he was in the room. I was too exhausted to talk. This time I had no pain medication or IV. It was ALL NATURAL!!! I can honestly say the pain was well worth it!!!!!

My first child was an emergency C-section. The whole experience was painful because I had already taken natural delivery courses, my husband was out of the country (he arrived the day after the surgery, after a 13 hours flight back to us) so I not only felt disappointed, but lonely... moreover, you can imagine all of that plus the after surgery pain, and having my baby in a special breathing camera for the first 4 hours of his life instead of being in my arms. Thanks God my hubby finally arrived, and today my son is a healthy 3-1/2 year-old boy.

I did not get the chance to get contractions with that pregnancy, but I did with my second. In that moment, I just hold my husband's hand as strong as I could, and focused on breathing, while thinking that all of that is for the better good of my new baby, and mine, too... just focusing in having my baby in a safer and natural way made the pain more bearable.

I'm on my 3rd preg, and really really hope this one to be a natural delivery, too!

I didn't think it was terrible with my first daughter. I thought the contractions just felt like bad cramps. The back labor kind of sucked. I did get an epidural and it was great. I remember feeling a lot of pressure when it was time to push. I was nauseated. I am 5 months pregnant now and scared to death. My daughter is 11 so it has been a while. Good luck if you are pregnant.

Of course it had its moments. The contractions were bad but I dealt with the pain with alot of breathing and drugs. They gave me an epidural, that didn't help at all, it just gave me back pains because the guy who did it must have hit something. It just felt like i had to use the bathroom and when my son came out it was a great relief. But overall it was a great experience and wouldn't have changed it for the world. When the baby comes out i think you forget about all the pain and just experience joy and happiness.

I don't think i said too much during thewhole thing except my complaining about the pain. OMG it was the worst pain i'd ever experienced.. even worse than horrible menstrual cramps ( some ppl will compare the 2)
. there was some membrane stuff still attached inside after i gave birth and the Doctor went in there and got it out.
So i was tired sore and then this guy is digging into my uterus pulling out whatever is left and that made it all so much worst .
what i said when i was ready to talk again was " never again" .
And i still stick by that. I never want to do that again.

I didn't really talk during my contractions. My sister did want to feel one so she pushed on my tummy and I did tell her I would kick her in the face if she did it again. LOL.. I don't know how I would have though!! The contractions, for me, felt like bad menstrual cramps. And the most painful part for me was the IV. It hurt because I was so swollen that they had to dig around for it... twice. Other than that ... it was all manageable. Hope this helps.

I ain't gonna lie, it hurts. While I can't describe to you exactly how it felt I can tell you I was ready to kill someone to get an epidural. Bigger mistake. My lucky self was one of the lucky few to have a wet tap. They stuck the needle in too far, drained my spinal fluid out. Ended up in more pain with a spinal headache, needed a blood patch.

Before that debacle. I do remember thinking I could slap my mother in law and sister in law. These were my sentiments during contractions "oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god." But in the end, its worth it!

the contractions were really really bad, until my epidural. The worst was the infection I got plus stiches which made it impossible to sit and I could hardly walk for a week. Then there was the rare spinal headache caused by the epidural which lasted for 5 days after delivery until I went to the emergency room because I wanted to die.
