some one was telling me that if i study undergraduate pharmacy (4years) to post graduate level, which will take me about 2 years more, i will get a way better pay than studying 5 years of optometry..

i tried to prove this statement, but i can't find it... all the results shows that optometry earn more than pharmacy...

can someone help me decide which one to study? i don't mind studying either, it's just that the salary after a degree is quite important, and i need to fill out the university courses in a few days otherwise classes will be taken..

thanks~

What country are you in?

In the US:

Pay is approximately the same, but it's easier to get part time hours in pharmacy to bump you up more. Plus, pharmacy is in demand more.

Studies are also the same. You can't become a pharmacist in the US with just an undergrad degree. You need to go to pharmacy school. Both pharm school and optometry school are 4 years (so, total of 8 yrs if you include undergrad).

Canada still has a bachelor pharmacy degree, but that pay is really low. I imagine the grad degree bumps you up to around the optometrist level. Not too sure though.

Pharmacists are more in demand than Optometrists are right now. It all dependson where you want to work after graduation.

If money is the only reason you are going into either of those fields, you should look into other career options. Medical fields are for those who care about people and who want to help them, no matter what way that would be.

With that said, you would probably make more as an optometrist, but even pharmacists now are making $100,000 or more.
