Do you really wanna go there? Why did the early English, French and Dutch invade and take over other ppls countries? Why were women suppressed? Why did they drop a bomb on Hiroshima? Why did Hitler gas the Jews? The answer is summed up in 9 words: 'prevalent intellectual and emotional redundancy of those in power'.

Rightfully, this question assumes that this is no longer the case, because for the most part it is no longer true (admittedly, some racism remains, but it goes both ways). I believe that in the beginning, when America began getting slaves (which they knew of because it had occurred all over the world previously), they believed they were less educated and inferior intellectually. Because they had no education and because they weren't well spoken, they believed they could only do manual labor/thoughtless work. They also believed that the life of a slave was actually better then the life they previously had (some slaves did have it pretty good, for a slave at least). This is why the civil rights movement was so big, because Black people could and would have the same educational opportunities. Any remaining stereotypes or inferiority issues likely arise from the same feelings, because the perception of many of Black people is that they are stuck in the ghetto, they are rappers, they are gangsters, etc. and therefore they are uneducated. This is unfortunate, because a Black person and White person now have the same opportunities (accepting the fact that some Black people may have it harder if they are working their way up from the absolute bottom - but there are white people doing the same thing). Hope that answers it.

The two basic needs that white people need to master, if possible, are the inferiority complex and the need for social approval. Whites cannot separate them (nor can many adults), and so these two needs often react on each other. The two needs exist because human beings are both individuals and social people.
The idea of the inferiority complex effceting white people was put forward in the early 20th century. Ideas about the hidden aspects of the mind were in their infancy. What happened was that it mixed the two needs together - only recognising the existence of one of those two needs. Legilslation has improved this idea by separating the two needs whereby the inferiority complex of white now only refers to the need to actually BE an individual.
The idea of distinct social needs between blacks and whites came later with the concept of 'confirmation'. 'Confirmation' is too abstract a concept for popular use and is replaced by the concept of 'social approval'.

I think that is very presumptuous on your part. "white" people as a whole do not see black people as inferior. I think that both black people and white people, after reading other questions asked, have a lot of learning to do about one anothers cultures. I am white and definitely do not think black people are inferior. Its unfair to assume that everyone thinks that way. Why do black people feel that all white people think the same?

That's a stereotype, not all White people view Black people as inferior but the ones that do are ignorant. They can't see pass color to see someones spirit and personality, a lot of people are shallow and think that physically attributes such as skin color and hair color determine your actions and your destiny. That is ridiculous to me and I will never understand why some people think this way but what can you do.

In the Bible, Angels are called 'white men'. In the Book of Enoch the birth of Noah is seen as an extraordinary event because his skin was as white as the snow, his hair was white as wool, and his eyes had the color of the Sun's rays. So, his father, Lamech, went to his father Methuselah telling him that his newly born son wasn't human, as he was looking like an angel's son. The Bible mentions Noah's as being the chosen one too. Sumerian texts report Ziusudra's birth (the Biblical Noah) as an extraordinary event too saying that his skin was as white as the snow, his hair as white as wool and his eyes had the color of the sky. It's obvious then, that Noah (Ziusudra for the Sumerians) was the first known Albino ever, what differs is that Sumerian texts explain that extraordinary birth saying that Ziusudra's Earthling mom had conceived the baby with a god= Enki; Sumerian texts also reports that while the first 'man' created by Enki had dark red skin and black head hair (Ninmah, in whose womb the first 'man' was carried, called her child 'ADAMU'= He who's like the Earth's Clay' for that reason), the first 'woman', created by Enki too, had instead a skin alike theirs for color and smoothness and her hair was like beach sand. White skin, light hair and light-colored eyes, therefore, have always been related to Deities, Angels, Annunaki, whatever you wanna call them, since the beginning of time. So, basically, the mis-conception that 'white skin' means 'superior' took over as time passed. Considering how many thousands of years have passed, even if in a remote past this extraordinary race (call them fallen angels or Annunaki as you wish), mixed up with Earthlings, by now their genes must have faded away:))))))) So, we're basically ALL THE SAME, and some arrogant whites should stop hanging on old stories, basically too ancient to still matter, thinking they're superior because THEY'RE NOT.

Because it made them feel better about themselves and it still does. It justified the mistreatment of them to see them as dogs rather than people with feelings and needs just like them.

It was a way to justify slavery.
Afterall, the united states was proting itself as a land of freedom, and say things like all men are created equal. Slavery posed a serious contradiction to that idea. So to compensate, white folk decide black people were't included cause we weren't human.
