Ok...the worst thing I've ever been through doesn't compare to everyone else's, But when I was 18 I was in a car wreck heading back to college. I had 2 skull fractures, a broken jaw, a broken tail bone, a sprung hip and a partialy ruptured spleen. I was given 5 pints of blood and the outside of the spleen healed itself. I remember waking up in the hospital a week later not knowing that anything had happened. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks before I got to go home, which is pretty fast I'm told. I know the only reason I got through any of it was because of prayer. I had a lot of people praying for me and I truly believe that's the only reason I healed so quickly.

This is not the worst thing that I personally have been through, but it was very hard and heartbreaking. My niece's 3 yr. old accidentally drowned her 1 month old in the bathtub trying to give him a bath while mommy was sleeping. I think that's enough details to get the heartbreaking across. I had not gotten to see my 1 month old great nephew before he was gone. Of course, it was a very emotional visit with my niece when we went to see her for the funeral. It has not turned out well for my niece.

The worst thing I have ever been through so far was going into the packed cafeteria alone, with nowhere to sit. (As you can tell, I'm still a teen.) I eventually skipped lunch and went to the library, but the next day I made quick friends and asked if I could sit with them... Trivial, yes, but humiliating.

When I was 15 my life took a total snowball for the worst. I crushed 3 vertebrae in my back in a head-on collision and had to have 60% of my panchreas removed due to internal bleeding. About 3 months after getting out of the hospital, my boyfriend of 3 years was killed in a plane crash along with his father and uncle. About 5 months later, one of my best friends died of cancer. It was horrible, I tried to kill myself and was sent to a counselor, which REALLY helped. You just have to realize that no matter how bad it is right now, it will get better and the pain will fade. There are many people who have it soooo much worse. There is always a reason for everything, although we may not see it now.

wow-I have had several bad events. Probably the worst time in my life was when my grandmother and best friend died of pneumonia, One bad thing about it is there were two family cars, and my parents told me to ride with the wives of the pallbearers because my ex was a pallbearer! My ex said no, she needs to be with family, and so she and I will ride together, alone, behind the pallbearer car. Then two weeks later I was laid off from my job because they shut down. Then three months after that, I discovered that my ex had been emailing a woman since before my grandmother got sick, and was planning on leaving me, so I kicked him out. Then a few weeks later I had to get rid of my 2 dogs because they were getting out and animal control threatened to put me in jail, and I just couldn't handle anything else.
How did I get through? I broke down into nothing and isolated myself from everyone, I cried every night alone in my house. I tried to focus on practical matters that I could "deal with". Later, I reconnected with the people who weren't toxic. I prayed and depended on God to get me through each day. I counted each day. I decided to rebuild a new life. I had quit eating, so I started exercising and gained my appetite back. I found a new job, I moved into a new place, and still took it one day at a time. I remembered to pray and thank God for every good thing I had at that moment, even when I was pawning stuff to buy groceries at the lowest point.
That was a few years ago...and it's almost surreal to me now. I survived, and am a stronger person because of it.

When I just turned 18 I got disfellowshipped from my religion and my mom and sister and two close friends (or so I thought) totally abandoned me and shunned me. The first year was extremely difficult but my boyfriend helped me through it. He is now my husband and has been for almost 7 years. I'm 27 now with two kids. I don't know how I did it but I remember a lot of crying in bed for the first few months.

Child abuse. I managed by numbing myself with drugs, including alcohol for many years.
I have come through the other side and have been able to forgive my abuser (for my own sanity) through my spiritual beliefs, my children and my loving, supportive spouse.

My dad left when I was 8 and I did not talk to him until I was 22 and I lived with my mother who was a drug addict and she married another drug addict who beat her. I moved away and never looked back.
