"Grey Street" revolves around the story of a girl who is consumed with feelings of loneliness, boredom and powerlessness. Dave Matthews has also admitted that the song is inspired by the life of the poet Anne Sexton.

When my boyfriend and I broke up a couple of years ago, l lived in a crappy little apartment in Seattle. It rained for months straight, I was too sad to make any connection to my surroundings, and all of my paintings turned to crap. All the colours mixed together to grey........I am pretty certain that song is about me :)
Kidding, I am not that narcissistic...Though I totally related with the song....
