Fake laughing is really stupid, i agree. They should completly remove it. It doesnt matter if it points out the funny parts. That points out whats supposed to be funny but its not funny to everyone.

Its called a laugh track. Its supposedly to let you know when something is supposed to be funny. I find it really annoying myself. There are a few shows that don't have that. Malcolm in the Middle was the first with no laugh track. There are others like The Office and Scrubs.

It's called a laugh track and was the norm for many years. In the last decade or so, it seems to have fallen out of favor, because too many people realized it for what it was. If you actually hear other people laughing, it encourages you to laugh. But canned laughter does nothing for a person's enjoyment of the show, so most shows don't bother anymore.

its because they think we are too stupid to realise a joke has been told
good example ~ m*a*s*h*
first saw this in UK where they removed the laugh track
have since seen american version with badly timed canned laughter and it ruined the show...i mean i know some of the humour and satire was above average but i DIDNT and DONT need to be told when to laugh

I find that when there's fake laughter, I end up laughing somewhat, even if the show isn't funny at all.

They have fake laughing because it's just cheaper. In show biz, they try to do everything as cheaply as possible.

Heyyyy I like the canned laughter on sitcoms.
points out the funny parts.
Makes me feel like I'm in a theater watching something funny and I feel as if others are watching too.

Because if they didn't have "cued laughter"...then people would probably stare blankly at their TV's and not think the shows were funny.
