Why is it that some people get SO defensive when you state an opinion? For instance as a college student I have always been taught that open mindedness is the key to knowledge and understanding, why don't people understand this? I get frustrated about certain things involving the United States and I am proud that I had a brother that went and served in the army in Iraq and I lost someone I cared about to the same war, however my brother and his friends and the family of my friend that was lost has even more PRIDE for this country!!!! If I can't express my opinions about illegal immigration and race without being called racist how is that fair? I have to wonder if I wasn't a white female and I expressed these same feelings would I still be a racist?

Because it is such a touchy subject. Anyone who is white is accused of racism for daring to voice an opinion that doesn't suggest that they owe something to another race simply because they're minorities.
The poster above me has proved how truly pathetic some people are. I can't imagine living my life playing victim and oppressed. You can twist anything any way you want and turn it into racism. It's disgusting.

Cheri has pointed up some examples of the imbalance that exists. The trouble with lawmakers is that when they reach back with both hands they can't find more than one buttock if any at all. Thus far laws made to bring balance have only caused trouble. The problem isn't necessarily the lawmakers in this instance though. Instead it is the unspiritual constituency that allows these wastrels to make their pronouncements. If you care only about being reelected or that you have power over issues important to you and your cronies you are an ideal candidate for office. You are the best people money can buy.
As for the history of the US, it is plain that xenophobia and racism, genocide and injustice toward the original inhabitants and the slaves stolen from their own land is what this country was in part founded on. A spiritual people will right these wrongs in future with balance, peace and justice for all. Remember, you can't cheat an honest man and (the view your leaders have of you)never give a sucker an even break. Usually a sucker is dishonest and hoping for something for nothing. Oh yeah...there is no free lunch. Thats a good one too. And then take to yourself the Golden Rule. That is the original Golden Rule, not the rulers golden rule which goes like this: he who has the gold rules. The collective dufus needs an upgrade. Lets give him/her one.
One more thing: we are all one race and we are all stuck on this rock in space together. In addition we are human beings possessing the capacity for abstract thought. Lets do whatever we can to make this one planet, one people. In reality thats what it is. We all are on this boat together. Make peace, stop lying and you will find friends everywhere you go no matter what color you are. It will happen. The day will come when the murderousness, thieving and lying will be banished from this life. It will be a shameful thing to even think of doing something harmful to another human being. People get ready!

It's very simple. If your opinion about a person's ability, intelligence, or cultural accomplishment, trustworthiness, value etc. is based on their race, or if you imply that YOUR race is in some way superior or more able than another race, you are a racist. That's what being a racist means. If they feel the same way about you, they are also racist.
It doesn't matter who expresses the opinion. It's the opinion that is racist and the race of the person expressing it is irrelevant. Anyone who thinks it is somehow NOT racist to express negative opinions about the white race because they are somehow 'entitled', is simply incorrect. Racism is either wrong ALL THE TIME, or it isn't ever wrong.

If you are expressing your opinion about an entire race then it more than likely is a racist statement. That's what racism is. If you know someone specific and voice your opinion then you are simply voicing your opinion. Again when you judge a whole group of people without having knowledge of the persons that they are then it is a racist statement. It would be similar to someone stating that all military for the US are murderers who just want to kill. I don't believe that but don't you find it a little judgmental? Ummmmm Ive often had the same thoughts, many of us are college educated....and Ive always wondered at what point do they for get to be a open minded well rounded thinker.....i think they forget two years past graduation.

also to the first person that answered there is no need for white history month, what do we learn about in school mostly and what is on the history channel, dont be so damn greedy, that is the problem with america, we are too greedy democracy/capitalism will be one of the reasons for our down fall!!!!!

If you're in college, then you have scene plenty of instances of "majority rule." We're America, and we supposedly are the cutting edge of political science and how to run a government: yet we still go by majority rule.
When you break that down, there are always going to be those who share the same beliefs, and those who don't.
And as a sub-level of that - there are going to be people who have extreme or middle of the road views of those ideas.
It also depends on how that person deals with life in general, how they handle stress, or if they are unsure of their own beliefs and don't want to admit it.

Everyone is allowed to have/voice their opinion in this country we all live in. The funny part is that once people let that information about how they really feel come out...they don't want to be judged for it. Funny.
you have WET(white entertainment television) Watch any channel other than BET and tell me what you see.
Everyday is White Pride Day. Look around you.
Every month is white history month. Look at what they teach the children in school.
You have many organizations for only whites to "advance" your lives. Look at the legal system, the financial and real estate markets, Look at the higher education system.
You have college funds that only give white students scholarships. If it weren't for minority scholarships you would try to totally shut us out. Look at the statistics for allotted $$$ for federal student aid and grant money!
