I think you have a real conundrum here.....
Vasile could very well be a geek, but not a nerd. To call a geek a nerd is considered very offensive!! Geeks like alot of techno gear and talk constantly about different subjects, movies, comics, games, stereos, etc.
Nerds on the other hand will only become animated when you mention things like "Linux" or "Solaris", or "Dual Drive Arrays in Redundancy".
