I am 17 and I hang out with a lot of older people. My bestfrind (17) doesnt think its okay that I hang out with people who are 20-24(+) I dont really see a problem with it.

Well, speaking from experience... when I was 17 I hung out with sailors and marines. I think the oldest guy I hung out with was 22. It was fun because guys that age have the same maturity level as a girl at 17. Kinda sad, but the thought of high school boys was enough to make me want to puke. ANYWAY, when I turned 22 there is NO WAY I would have ever hung out with someone younger... but then again, I am a girl! As long as you are hanging out with them because they're your friends, and not to be popular or get beer, then it's cool. Take your friend along with you! She might change her mind... I always had a girlfriend with me when I hung out with older guys.

Of course it's okay! I'm 15 and I sometimes hang out with 20+ year olds! And there's not much of an age difference between you and your friends.

Depends on what you do with these people. If they're drinking, doing drugs and committing crimes then no it's not okay. If they're nice law abiding people who are going to school and have jobs, then I would say they are setting a good example for you and might be a good influence. Be honest with yourself - age really has nothing to do with it. Do you think you should be hanging around these people?

HELL YEAH! I was 17 hanging out with people 25+
I find people older than me I get along with better. So I'm 21 now, and I have friends 65+. It doesn't matter and don't let no one tell you different! Young people suck!

I don't think age is a big deal. The only thing I could see as a potential problem is that they are at the legal drinking age and you are not. Keep that in mind.

When I was in high school I only hang out and dated ppl older then me. I just felt that some of the ppl my age acted immature. It's cool that you hang out with older ppl, just know that you can't do everything they do.

yes it's okay as long as you're not being badly influenced. As long as they're keeping you positive letting you know that a college education is needed in today's society in order to have anything; 3 years from now we will be in 2010 it's going to be a different world than where you come from now. so be prepared; be educated.

I usually don't restrict my friends to how old they are, but I have found that when I'm the younger one I tend to feel left out (like when the go to the bar) or find that the males are just trying to get a peice of young a@#. there isn't a problem with it unless they are harming you or placing you in bad situations...maybe your friends knows something you don't, or maybe she is just jealous

Theres nothing wrong w/ that at all. I am the same. You are probably just more mature than all the other high school kids. Do what you want whatever makes you happy, long as your safe.
