I'm 16, a high school sophomore, and it looks like my hairline is receding. I shaved my head because I wanted to see what I would look like bald, and now I want to keep it shaved because I don't want people to know I'm losing my hair. Does this make sense? I would rather be a teenager with a shaved head than be 17 and have a horseshoe.
I know it is because I have a high level of testosterone, because I also got really hairy this past year; my chest looks like Steve Carell's, and now my back is getting hairy. My uncle started balding at about the same age, and was totally bald on top by age 20. Since I look a lot like him, I am sure that I will probably be bald in a few years as well.
So, did any of you other guys start balding when you were teen? Were you really hairy as well?

I am 17 years old going on 40.
Ok, I started getting facial hair when I was 11, and other hair (chest, back) when I was 12. My hairline is receding from the front at a fast pace. One of my close friends told me that at the beginning of Summer 2006, my hairline was fine. Now, I find my own hairs all over the shower.
You are not alone, my friend. I will graduate with about 50% of the hair that I had at the beginning of the Summer 2006. Yes, I have über hair. And I don't mind that my hair in the front 50% of my head is thinning at a rapid pace. Don't worry about it, there is nothing to reverse it, just embrace it.

I'd say let it grow out a little, a receding hairline is honestly not so bad, let it grow short and do a damage assessment... I speak from experience... I am currently 19 and I am thinning out a lot all over the top... cut my hair short and it looks halfway decent... I'll probably go 100% bald eventually though....

i started turning gray in the 9th grade and by the time i finished my freshman year in college (age 19) i was totally bald on top. by senior year i was totally bald. at age 58, i'm still as bald as a cue ball.
for some unknown reason, it didn't/doesn't bother me at all. i often thought/think that if people can't accept me for what i don't have on my head, it's their loss.

yes i did receding hair line since 17, im 57 now and i still have my hair. still have a receding hair line. your problem is you are worrying to much and that is enough to make you go bald. so do not worry about it. look on your mothers side of the family are there bald men there. there is on mine but i still have mine.

There was a kid in my high school (this was 30 years ago) who was completely bald on top by the time of our graduation. I dated a guy whose 22- and 24-year-old sons had less hair than their dad. (Hair loss is a recessive trait on the mother's side, I believe.)
Don't worry about it. Your sparkling personality, quick wit, intelligence, and sex appeal in general will wow them. : )

embrace baldness! chicks dig it, you wont get carded, and think of the money saved in hair care products. Do not, I say again, do not shave your chest or back. can't be helped, some chicks like it, some chicks dont. It really only looks bad when you are putting on suntan lotion.

It makes alot of sence. Just talk with your doctor about it. There are several meds out there now to stop balding.

It is not as rare as you think. You could use a shampoo, such as Nioxin that will could help. But to find out more about hair loss, I suggest www.medsocial.com. It is a great website full of medical professionals and med school studnets that can answer all of your health related questions.
