Truthfully, not many. There are some out there that you just have to see in theaters. Right now, the one that I'd say is worth going to the theater to see is Pan's Labyrinth. It's marvelous. But other than that one, I can't think of any.

My answer is no. Here's why......

If you are going as a couple, you'll spend probably $40.00+...you could buy or rent several great movies for that price. Popcorn and soda are both fairly cheap in a grocery store. You never know if the movie you have picked will be any good or not because no one knows what it's about as opposed to waiting for it to come to DVD and let several people tell you if they thought is was any good. Have you ever thought of all the germs in a movie theater??? The seats, the cupholders, the arm rests, if it's cold and flu season(especially) and someone sneezes that airborn bacteria will travel several rows!!! Someone could have a bacterial infection and no symptoms for a while. You're in confined space with that stuff. Anyway, you get the pleasure of pausing the movie to go pee and get a snack if you wait and watch the movie at home on DVD.

Yes, as a movie buff I think everyone should still go see movies in the theatre. Bootlegs and things like that are the reason why movie prices have been jacked up but also going to the movies is part being social and going out to do things is something I think everyone should do more.

If the following requirements are met:
1. it is a very good movie.

2. you get a cheap price or go to a cheaper theatre (sorry, $10-15 is just a rip-off)

3. you cannot afford to own a fancy entertainment system at home

4. you go with someone else whom you know will like the movie too

5. you don't end up sitting in a puddle of spilled soda, or having a tall person with an elaborate headress in front of you, or sitting beside people who talk incessantly through the entire film

I like watching the big blockbuster/action movies in the theater....

we have this drive-in movie place here in town and we can go see two movies for about $7 bucks per person..... and you can bring in your own snacks.. some people even have a little BBQ while they are waiting for the movie to start.....

Yes the movies are still worth going to see, but it is so easy to get them on the street, a lot of people don't bother with spending the extra money to get to the movies.

Yea! There are several pluses

1) Massive Screen
2) Amazing Sound System
3) Great for a Date
4) Great to just go hang with friends
5) See movies In EXCELLENT Quality 6 months before they come out. (If you think, I'll just dl a bootleg, That's ILLEGAL and they do have serious penalties, People get caught more than most people realize)

So yea, It is still worth it =)

Some are better at the theater, because of the big screen and surround sound. But as a rule I just wait for them to come out on video. I can't justify paying $25.00+ to go to the theate when I can rent for $2.99 and watch in my comfy chair at home.

Hollywood hasn't come out with an original idea in a while now...
Movies that aren't any good aren't worth paying money to go see.
