The 2007th positive integer is 2007.

The first odd positive integers, in order, are 1, 3, 5, 7, ... They are always spaced by 2 units, so its general form is

odd(n) = 1 + 2(n - 1) = 2n - 1

Check it for several values of n; if you can, prove the validity of the formula by induction (see sources).

So, the 2007th odd positive integer is odd(2007) = 4013.

To get the nth positive odd integer, the formula would be 2n - 1.

In your case, it would be 2(2007) - 1, or 4014 - 1, or
4013.

Note that this works for the first odd positive integer;
If n = 1, then 2(1) - 1 = 2 - 1 = 1.

Therefore, the formula is indeed 2n - 1 instead of 2n + 1.
