my nans dad gave it to her and he used to drive this well know lady around. dimond cross solid silver back. i want to try and track down the history of this necklace and who this lady might of been.

I would take it to a local antique shop for a start or a valuator who might be able to put you on the right track.

Do not waste your time on mere baubles when Arsenal are playing Spurs in the 2nd leg of a cup competition knockout on Wednesday. Break out the instruction manual(s) and learn how to program your DVD recorder -- you do have one, don't you? Then, find out where your nan's dad used to drive this well-known "lady" to, and what they would get up to when they got there. Was her name Mrs. Simpson, by any chance? If you can find your nan's dad's memoirs you're onto a winner gal!

You can find out the year it was made, where it was marked and the quality of gold from the hallmark as well as the makers mark - do a search for assay marks or start here:
