I had sore spots like this through my first pregnancy. I called them "hot spots" was due to the pressure of my uterus pushing up under my ribs... soooo sore. Then I'd get a stitch in my side that i couldn't get comfortable with. I went to my doctor she didnt' seem concerned at all, jsut another one of those pregnatn things Grrrr.. so i went ot the pharmacy. They said use some arthritis pain rub on the spot and it'll help. I picked up this stuff called Myoflex (free sample offer here: http://www.myoflex.ca/eng/trial_offer.asp ) and rubbed it on the sore spot, it didnt take the pain away totally but OMG did it ever help. Now that i'm pregnant with my 2nd I didn't even talk to the doc about these pains at all, now i get them in a different spot on the right side, but I know how to handle them. Myoflex! I haven't tried any of the other rub stuff it may work still but this was the one that worked for me.

It's normal and there isn't a ton you can do to help it. Try having someone stretch your arms over your head - this may help relieve some of that temporarily. Try sitting at an angle when you sit so that you have some more room. Change positions a lot, get up and walk around if you can.
Once the baby drops the pain should ease some but you may have another few wks.

YES! I had such horribe pain in my ribs I had to be induced (at 39w6d). I coudn't breathe either. I had huge DD's, though, which had a lot to do with it. From about 32w-39w when I was home I kept a skinny pillow under my gown and under the girls to hold them up off my ribs. It really helped.

It's because the baby is running out of room and is more than likely squished up into your ribs. There really isn't much you can do. Just take it easy and remember that you're almost done.

I went through this harsh when i was prego with my twins, it felt like something was seriously wrong but my doc assured me it was normal and would go away when the baby dropped.
He told me to try stretching, might make the baby move a little and ease up on ya.
good luck

I had pain in the ribs, but it's only because my baby turned and his foot got stuck in my ribs. You can dislodge it by change positions.

This is normal, the only thing that'll cure it is birth. I'm 25 weeks and my breathing is changing a bit. But more over I'm having back pain.
Just use heating pads and take one tylenol. That's all you can do...

I did and my daughters foot was stuck in my ribs had to have the doc push it back down. They poke around in there constantly. Nothing you can really do, they run out of room. =)
