I've been calling myself an atheist for some time now. However, I'm pretty sure that's not my "real" belief in this world. I'm not an agnostic, I'm convinced there's no God or supernatural entity whatsoever.

Do you know a belief term describing the following? :
I believe in no God, period (atheism trait,) but I do believe in terms like the soul and its immortality (without entering religious schemes.)
How do you call this system of belief? Does it exists something that properly describes my situation? Or am I thinking like no other mortal ever would? (to start with my own philosophies, then.)

Thank you. I hope you're not confused by my reasoning.

I completely understand.
You are spiritual without the trappings of being religious.

I have some very fundamental beliefs. But, I am disillusioned with structured religion. My connection with the higher power is strong. And I am more at peace than ever.

I believe in God and Jesus. I used to struggle with the billions of people who died without that knowledge. And I remember the bible verse..."the only way to the Father is through the Son".
Then I realized that the Father & the son are one.

Thus.......I came to the personal conclusion that God is called by many names and worship different ways. Most people have a creation story, a world wide flood story, a God, a belief is the afterlife. Thus.........in my mind God is not the white bread that middle America make him. He is grander and more awsome than we can ever imagine. He is way too big to be put in a box or a book. Although I do believe the Bible is the word of God. It has been written and rewritten and put in to language that isn't completely true when inturpited d by humans.

God is patient and he knows our flaws and finds ways to connect with us in spite of ourselves.

I am sure there are many people besides yourself who have a similar belief system, but I am not aware that there is any name given to this system. Since you believe in the existence and immortality of the soul, it is definitely a kind of spirituality, but no name. Maybe you should develop this system as far as you can and publish it; I'm sure many people would identify with it, and, someday, maybe it will be called ambriz_jesusism!

By the way, I'm totally serious about writing it up.

Spiritual Humanism addresses the human and spiritual state without resorting to defined theology or even God. DEISM believes there is a God, but a God who does nothing except watch the universe He created. BUDDHISM claims to be nontheist, but Buddhists do believe that "God" is none other than "good", as in a compassionate, selfless person. TAOISM believes in the All-In-One, so God and the universe are not separate at all. Many people dislike using the word "god" because it is subjective- ever think of that? Maybe you do believe in God. Choose your poison.

It's simply following your own beliefs.

Personally, I'm an agnostic.
-snicker- Your not thinking like no other mortal ever would, a lot of people think like that, just not enough to properly name it.
