I have a BS in clothing design and textiles. When you graduate, you can get a job pretty much anywhere in the fashion industry, depending on what sort of emphasis you have in your schooling. Mine was computer aided flat-pattern design. I have worked for a company that designed patterns on computers for small pattern companies (sportswear, historical, and equestrian wear), a non-profit organization designing a line of clothing for premature infants, and a maternity wear company. I currently design dance costumes.
I also did a year of graduate work in functional apparel design. With that education, you can design things like space suits, uniforms, even odd things like car air bags (designed by one of my professors).

I have not. However, there is the universally respected Fashion Institute of Technology, N.Y., N.Y. Also, I have heard, thZt there are certain schools who have job placement programs. But these programs state that one must stay with the first employer for two years or forfeit $10,000.
