Is it really unhealthy for my baby? I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have terrible mroning sickness. I can't keep water down. I have been to the e.r. I have medicine that they gave me to help the anti-nausea but it seems the only liquod I can keep down is 7-up or ginger ale. Anyone else experience this?? I know I need lots of water but no matter what I cannot keep it down. thanks for the comments!

thank you so much for your comments. I was thinking I was going to have an unhealthy child because that's all I can keep down. The meds I got from the e.r. isn't really the best. I feel much more assured knowing this is "normal" thanks again!

up until I was like16 or 17 weeks I was so sick, it was not funny. i could not keep anything what so ever down. I had actual lost weight at the point. i didn't not begin to gain weight until like 20 weeks. thats how sick I was.

Yes, I've experienced this. It's not unhealthy for the baby at this point.
Drink the 7up or Ginger Ale. Don't focus too much on the water right now - you want to be able to keep down some fluids so you don't get dehydrated. Water at this stage can make you more nauseous - I know from experience. Drink what you are able to and don't worry right now. Get past the first trimester and then drink your water. Basically the doctors want you to stay hydrated and that happens by drinking anything - milk, soda, juice, etc.

Best of luck and take those med's - they really will start to help!!! Also, they say the sicker you are the healthier the baby is so keep that saying handy because it will help you through this!

It's certainly not the best for your baby no, but with nausea some people find the carbonation to help quite a bit. Ginger ale is especially good for nausea because ginger is a natural tummy tamer of sorts. Keep trying to drink water, just in small amounts, and keep taking your prenatals. This will not last forever. Best of luck to you!

Don't worry 7-Up was the only thing I could drink for my first trimester! The Dr said it was better than nothing! Just take your pre-natal vitamins and eat and drink as best as you can. How about fruit? The Dr also recomended Ginger Ale but I didn't even feel like drinking any. Good luck!

26 weeks with my first!

I had horrible morning sickness too. I practically lived on ginger ale for the first 3 months. My daughter turned out fine. I found I could handle water if I only took small sips. I also found sour hard candies worked well on my nausea.

Don't worry, it does get better. Hope this helps!

I commend u for even being able to keep down that..... the only thing i could drink was orange juice...... ask your doc about Zofran for your nausea... they're small chewables and they kinda taste like bubble gum.... nothing else but that worked for me, maybe it could help.... good luck!!!

That is better than nothing, at least your baby is getting some sugar.

Try the new 7-up plus...

It worked for my friend, and it has apple juice in it...
