i cant' understand why you would be restricted from adopting a child of any race. my wife and i (both white) are adopting an ethiopian child. the only restrictions are that you're healthy, financially stable, etc.

If this is a research paper for a school project, you should check with adoption agencies or social services. Here's a little bit that we found:
Interracial adoptions are not legally restricted, but are very difficult in US. Outside, most countries except India require at least one parent to be a citizen. China has just announced the introduction of certain highly controversial restrictions (obesity, income, physical scars/diability, marriage status etc.) on adoptions. India gives first preference to Indians living in India, then to Indians living abroad, then to all other foreigners for adoption. So, that would work out as a restriction of sort.

Talk to adoption agencies for accurate answers.

as far as i know there isn't a federal or any state that has an actual law about interracial adoptions. the rule is pretty much if the birthmother is comfortable with the adopting parents there are no restrictions. i have some friends that are both caucasion and in march they are planned to adopt a african american little girl, and myself and my husband both caucasion have adopted an hispanic daughter. the only restriction would have been if the birthmother wanted at least one parent of her child's ethnic origin. i can tell you all day about adoption. what else specifically would you like to know?

I think that people should be able to adopt, no matter what race they are, or the child. What matters most is the love someone can give that child. I totally agree with adoption, and I think it is wonderful to adopt from another race so that children can grow up not acknowledging color, but love. That is the most important thing. Don't worry about how people look at you, or the child, just know how much you can become to love one another. Children are very special and deserve to be loved no matter what their race is, or yours!
