its so much more fun to be chased a little...and caught as they inevitably are...puts a little spark into the obvious outcome...and begs the question...why do we think we are the only creatures that think and feel in an emotional sense?...plus which...it sorts the men from the boys stamina...persistence and strength wise...makes them a worthy mate...survival of the fittest...;0)

they want to make sure that their young have the best chance of survival so they won't settle for a mate until they are sure they have the strongest male.

i have a better question why do some of the female eat the males ?
