Yeah, I asked a similar question and was told that I was unfairly accusing a company. I actually looked at the Iams site, and it does say that they are working with the Humane Society to improve testing facilities, but as of yet, I haven't seen any new reports.
It's not just IAMS (owned by Proctor and Gamble) that is doing unnecessary testing.
Here's a website with a list of companies that do and don't test.

That is a damn good question... but if you are going to ask why Iams is then why not ask that of Purina too... or many of the other major pet food brands.
Most people do not know these pet food compaines dirty little secrets... therefore nothing is being done. Besides it is not like testing on animals is illegal... even though it is horrific to watch it is still legal.
I personally buy pet food that does not test on animals.

They DID habit checks on animals, many years in the past. They under no circumstances tried to conceal it, and ALL their study findings are interior the customary public area, so different petfood organizations may also income, with no need to habit the same checks. each and every so in many cases a suffering freelance journalist digs it up again and represents it as even if it is 'information' - it is no longer!! The checks were specifically performed for preparation amassing to strengthen and create diest for his or her veterinary/dietic meals that are practically a 'drugs in nutrition kind', and they did not habit any checks more desirable than once - ie: they discovered out each and everything they could about an ailment / animal / result / treatment each and every time they subjected an animal to checks. And maximum of those checks were infact 'rigidity free' and stated what outcomes environmental factors could have on diseases / reactions etc. Do I trust animal sorting out? No - yet a minimum of Iams examined on animals for the betterment of animal wellbeing. i ought to quite that than for motives of up to date colorings of eyeshadow. Do I trust the bloody media stirring issues up time, after time, after time? No in any respect. the clicking international have a heck of alot to respond to for. From community rags to the BBC all of them sensationalise issues only to get their rankings up.

because a love like that deserves iams...(puke)
same as science diet...ever wonder why vets have science diet and iams products (eukanuba, iams and royal canin)?? it's because P&G (owner of iams etc) and Colgate (owner of science diet) are the biggest contributor to veterinary schools, tuition assistance programs and free food programs. Oh and another thing, science diet publishes the textbook used by most vet schools. neither of them are good diets for animals but they are better than things like beneful...
consider that almost 50% of all dogs die from cancer - these manufacturers use cancer causing products (like ethoxyquin) in their formula.
buying a premium food costs more out the door but in the end, your dog will live longer and be healthier and require less vet expense.
just my $.02

solibabe2003 gave a rather selfish answer. I'm sorry you had to endure that!
In most cases with companies that use animal testing, they do not see it as unnecessary.. unfortunately. They see it as the only way.

This is a very good question. Have you called them to find out why they are still testing? Is it possible they are trying to come up with a new product?

Where did you hear that? I have visited two LARGE dog food companies research facilities and found the dogs there to be happy, healthy and very clean. I was invited to the "back rooms" of one facility to see where the actual urine/feces tests, breeding rooms, etc were. What a fantastic facility!! Breeders of quality dogs should be so fortunate to have what these dogs have for the care of their own!!

I don't know why they test those poor animals. It all depends upon how the cruel they are and what the conditions are. Animal testing is so wrong!

I don't know. Why don't you call them up and ask them?
Or better yet, the time that you spent asking this questions.......you could have tried to save one of their lives.
See what your selfishness did. You should be ashamed!
