Depends on what kinda skin you have. Here is a fivestar revier and a one star review for bareminerals that i found on amazon(NOT MINE!):
I have never worn foundation in my life. I hated being able to feel it on there, & I hated the effort of washing it off every night & how long it took to put on. This has solved all those problems. Applying the foundation takes maybe 30 seconds. I don't feel like I have anything on my face at all. Family was telling me how nice I looked, but when I told them I was wearing foundation they were surpised. It looked so natural. And this stuff won't hurt your skin if you leave in on at night. So no big hassle when you're tired & want to go to bed. The starter kit is the way to go; I was going to try just the foundation & was glad I got the starter kit. It's a really good deal over buying the things seperately as well.
Here's a onestar review:
I got suckered in. I admit it. I'm not usually one to fall for hype, but the infomercials are very convincing, and makeup is my weakness. I was intrigued by the idea of being able to wear very light makeup while still covering my imperfections. I hate heavy makeup, but I have rosacea, large pores, and fine lines (I'm 36), and my skin is sensitive. I'm also very pale, and I have a lot of trouble finding foundation that stays true without turning me yellow or pink. When I found a kit at Ulta, I got excited and bought it. I thought this stuff was the answer to all of my troubles.
Wrong!
My kit (pale) had two colors of foundation: the second and third palest that is offered. Neither color worked. The paler one was too pale and ghosted me out, the darker one matched a bit better but made me more yellow then any other foundation I've tried.
Well, fine, the colors didn't work. If that was the worst, I might try other colors. But it turns out the color miss-match was the least of my problems.
I have combo skin. While I have large pores, I'm actually slightly dry around my mouth and eyes, and this stuff sucked all the moister right out of my skin. Even over my richest moisturizer, this product dried me out, leaving behind flaky, cracked-looking skin.
It also settled into every line and pore, and coated all my fine facial hairs, magnifying everything 10 fold. Rather then covering imperfections, it accentuated them. If I used a light touch, it didn't cover my ruddiness. If I used more, it made me look sickly yellow. I have no idea why people say it's light and gives you a no-makeup look; when I used enough to conceal imperfections, it was very, very obvious I was wearing makeup.
I tried to use this makeup for days, convinced I was simply doing something wrong. I followed the directions, watched the DVD with mirror, makeup, and brush in hand (several times!), I practiced, I swirled, tapped, and buffed. Nothing made it look good.
Oh, and the brushes are terrible. They shed like crazy, and while soft, are certainly not of the professional quality that they imply they are.
I finally broke down and went to Clinque. Not only did they give me samples to try before I bought, but the prices were about the same, and the quality of makeup is 100x better. If you're going to drop a lot of cash on makeup, go to a department store and get samples. Don't be like me and fall for the hype. Try before you buy.

Hi,
I think the starter kit is great. I've used Be for more than 4 years. My 14 year old daughter also uses it. I live in Florida were humidity literally eats your makeup immediately. Bare Minerals lasts all day, I may reapply the mineral veil if I get shiny , but then it is really humid here. The eyeshadows are 15 dollars each, but one jar will last a life time since you only use the dust in the lid. That's the secret... you don't need that much. If acne coverage is an issue you may want to invest in a synthetic coverage brush. ( it covers that area a little more intensly). But if you give it a chance you may see your skin doesn't get clogged and you may not need it.My daughter uses BE and doesn"t have an acne problem. It also does a great job covering redness. I usually look like Rudolph with my allergies, but it doesn't show with BE. If you order from QVC they have a great return policy, just in case. But once you try it you won't want to be without it. Just remember to use the dust in the lid...that's all you need. Good Luck!

My mom bought me the started kit (light) for XMAS. It's $60 or somewhere around there.
I really can't tell you if it's worth it...
The cool thing is that it comes with 3 brushes (eyes, cheeks, and one big one for all over face). Brushes can be really expensive, so in a way, $60 is worth it. On the other hand, I only use two powders out of the whole kit (5 powders).
It will probably last a good 6 months if you use it daily. However, I wouldn't recommend this product if you have dry skin. Since it's all powders, it'll just make your skin look flaky. Also, it really doesn't cover major blemishes. If you have nice skin and just want a nice matte coat on your face that feels like, buy it. If you have blemishes that you want to cover, I'd skip buying this product. Plus, I don't wear that much coverup usually, but I find myself not being able to tell the makeup is on...which is good for some people. I, however, like my makeup to give me a little color and evenness, and I don't think Bare does it that well.
Hope this helps!

You know what I just changed from MAC to Bare Minerals because MAC was making my face break out and I already love Bare Minerals...
1) You get sooo much with the starter kit...3 brushes, 2 foundations, bronzer, and a veil so it's absolutely not a rip off.
2) I've only had it about 4 days and my face is already looking clearer and whatever is not clear yet it's covering.
3) I put it on once in the morning and all day my face is fresh looking
I understand you don't have a lot of $ to be throwing up in the air which is why i would suggest to invest in Bare Minerals...think of all the money you'll save on other products (like blush and brushes) and your face will look radiant.

Mineral Makeup is so much better for your skin than liquid foundation.
1. Is it a waste of money? No, Unless you are buying a mineral makeup that contains fillers such as cornstarch.
2. Does it cover problem skin? Yes, and it helps to heal skin problems.
3. Will it last? It is very long wearing and a small amount goes a long way.
I personally use Affordable Mineral Makeup. I have tried a few others, but they either contains small amounts of preservatives or are made up with a lot of fillers.
For 3 grams of foundation it is only $18.99 plus $5.00 Shipping. They have other sizes available also. Shipping is only $5.00 on any size of order. You only need to order what you want, when you want. No clubs or subscriptions.
Benefits of Affordable Mineral Makeup itself:
Each ingredient has its own special quality and purpose in the makeup.
These are the ingredients making up Affordable Mineral Makeup, pure and simple.
•Zinc Oxide is known for its healing properties in problem skin such as rosacea and acne, it has the ability to stay on even while sweating and swimming, as well as offers protection from the sun's harmful UV rays.
•Titanium Dioxide also has waterproof and SPF properties while providing a Matte look.
•Mica has some transparent properties and allows the makeup to go on smoothly.
•Iron Oxides give the makeup its pigment.

I got one of their starter kits about two years ago and it's ok, I got a bunch of brushes with the products and got to try their stuff. If you buy it and try it, be sure you have the return policy ahead of time and save your receipt in case you want to return it. You can also try it at ULTA stores, bc they carry the line. ***I find that it doesn't last all day and gets too shiny.
I have some brushes that I purchased from Merle Norman which I've had for years, I love them.
I much prefer Jane Iredale mineral makeup bc it's not so glittery and it covers better and looks more natural around the eyes. In summer, it lasts all day. I use Alba Botanica lotion on my face, just a little and let that set. Then I apply the JI with a brush or you can use their sponge. Sometimes I cheated and used a powder puff.
Some people say they like ULTA brand mineral makeup, but I've yet to try it.

Bareminerals offers different starter kits. The one I bought had three colors, three brushes, and a case. I did not find it a waste of money. It is however, a light airy coverage. So if you are used to a heavy feeling base makeup you may have a bit of difficulty getting used to it. It lasts longer than most other makeups I've tried. I liked it enough I've reordered several items.

In the long run it is less money than makeup you buy at a chain store. One jar lasts me about 6 mths. So $25 split up into six months is a little over $4 a month. That is probably less than you spend on any liquid makeup. Also this is much better for your skin. It is a natural makeup and has no chemicals that will clog your pores. Hope that helps.

I think bareminerals is worth the money, but thats me. Consider buying it off of ebay though, you can still get it brand new but for way cheaper. It really does last, and its good for problem skin. Just make sure you clean your brushes regularly (probably once a week) because they grow bacteria and can break you out easily. You just soak them in warm, soapy water, rinse them and let them dry. Learn how to use ebay, seriously. I buy my stuff on there whenever im running out.
