okay this may sound like a very general question, but it seems like im in a rut when it comes to how i where my makeup. I always want to try new things to like play up my eyes or something like you see in magazines but then i always look like a retard! i dont want to look like ive over done my makeup but i want to look pretty.

Right now i am wearing the basics - foundation, loose powder, rose colored blush, brown hues of eye shadow, black eye liner, black mascara, and sheer lip gloss.

My complexion is fair, but not real pale and i have brown hair and brown eyes. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone has. Thank you!

i so know what you mean! whenever i try to do stuff in the magazines it looks kinda gay on me. lol. so if you want a new look or want some tips here it is. i love doing this because it makes my eyes pop: when you put eyeliner on the bottom lash line pull your lower eye lashes down so you can sorta see into your eye and notice that white rim. well put eye liner on that rim/line. go back and forth over it. when that's done it will look like WOW!!! next tip is: put shimmer, highlighting, light catching blush on your cheek BONES to make them stand out. another thing when i do my mascara is really wiggle it at the root slowly and then go all the way up. if makes a difference. really. on the outer eye lid area dust some white/cream shadow in it so it catches the light to your eye. and also put the same stuff in the corners of your eyes.
good luck!

Well you should use a good black eyeliner (Dior do good eyeliners around £12 each) that you can lightly apply around the end corners of your eyelids and slightly flick it out. Dont draw a big line though just a small line. Then try some natural coloured eyeshadow. Possibly a slight tan colour or just white. Then use a different colour that matches to dab at the end of the eyelid to create a good contrast and attract attention to your eyes. Make sure your not using a foundation that makes you look like youve been tango'd. A matching skin colour foundation should be lightly applied and slight blusher on the cheekbone. Then finish off with a nice touch of lipgloss. Also for night time try adding glitter (make sure it looks neat by using vaseline to keep it in place)
Hope you have fun!

Look for a Mary Kay or other type of make-up person (ads in yellow pages, etc.) locally. They are always looking for "models" to try to convience to purchase products. You do NOT have to purchase these products. Some of their products are priceless, but don't get excited and go overboard on purchases after the make up day is over. They may want you to have party, but most will be happy to show you their stuff. They have many books which has shown them how to create styles and looks w/ colors. (I sold Mary Kay for a while and learned a lot about makeup.)

Have fun with it and try different stuff. Go go make up counters and have them do you up and see if you like it.....ALL FREE!

Don't be afraid of a little color on your eyes...with your complexion perhaps a blue liner on the top would look good. By no means am I saying to dress your entire eye in blue, that's trashy...just a subtle amount of color sounds nice on you...good luck.

try a green eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara foundation, clear lipgloss, and a hint of blush.its simple but it looks really good.with your colouring you should mainly concentrate on the eyes and then have suttle colours for your lips and blush.

i like what your using. try tinted moisturizer instead of foundation its much lighter. your eye make up. and for a more natural look try dark brown mascara. bad gal eyeliner creates a smokey look really easily.

please skip the foundation unless you're really ugly. foundation is overrated and disgusting.

try using maybe colored eye shadow and lipgloss. they can really make your features pop. liquid eyeliner also works wonders if you know how to use it
