Why do most physicians look at chiropractors as quacks?

Because they heal people and doctors don't. The American Medical Association formed with political ties to only make chemotherapy and radiation standard of care and to disavow anything natural because there is no money in it. That is the truth.

The reason most physicians look at chiropractors as quacks is due to the fact that many of the alternative therapies offered by chiropractors have not been proven scientifically. While chiropractic methods for treating joint related pain has been proven to be of some benefit, the claims that many chiropractors make that they can treat a wide variety of other ailments like the common cold by "snapping" certain joints are not supported by scientific study. This is why there is not a single state run university in the U.S. with a school of chiropractic.

Right now it is mostly a matter of ignorance. DCs go through very extensive training in academics in addition to hands on training. But decades ago it wasn't as strict. Medical doctors don't know what type of training DCs go through nor do they understand the principles behind Chiropractic. Instead of being taught the same philosophy, or model, they are taught something different. And since they are only taught 1 way to do things they, for the most part, cannot see the other side of the issue.

Also there are historical issues between the AMA and DCs. For more information on that feel free to look up the Wilks vs AMA et al trial. The Chicago 5 sued the AMA and other professional medical societies for violation of federal anti-trust laws and won. The AMA had created a committee who's sole goal was to contain and eliminate the Chiropractic profession. Rather interesting reading if you have the time.

Far too many people still believe that chiropractic care isn't necessary unless they're suffering excruciating headache or low back pain. The millions who do receive regular adjustments and have a natural, healthy lifestyle know that chiropractic can resolve their back pain. Chiropractic saves patients money by reducing their need for pain medication. Many drugs merely mask pain without addressing its underlying cause. Chiropractic goes to the root of the problem, helping patients live pain-free without the use of medication.

because alot of them have no idea that chiropracters have studied all parts of the body inside and out -every nerve, vein, vessel, muscle, etc and actually know alot more on how to go about treating you thatn the regular MD. They are ashamed to admit a chiropractor knows more than they do.

my opinion. because a chiropractor can eliminate pain/discomfort with just hand manipulation. this knocks out a doctor putting you through a billion test, medications and treatments for certain ailments.

Most Physicians should of been cattle farmers.They herd you in and herd you out and charge the hell out of you.They both do the public a great service.Herdin and Quackin helps us all sometimes even if some do not trust them.
