It could be gossips but could also be because the cousin has a sideline that pays a lot! LOL. The money comes from somewhere! Unless he won at the lottery? One who lives in a housing project has to declare his revenues every year so the office ajusts the rent. The mother probably gets her pension. Your co-worker does not really know the full story and is presuming wrong-doings... The rent is calculated on the revenues, so not everyone pays the same amount. I know because I live in one of them.

I'm not going to begin to attempt to speak for all people in public housing, but if this man lives with his mother, then he's not paying rent or mortgage. That frees up a lot of cash. If I had no rent, or minimal rent, I could afford a Benz too. Apparently a nice car is more important to him than a home of his own.

I'm not going to state the obvious that there could be some drug dealing involved since we all know that one...but I will say that when you don't have to pay major utility bills or rent or food you can usually afford to have a nice car and a ton of bling bling. I mean think about it if you took $1000 a month off of your rent and bills you could too! It sucks but that is one major problem with some of our programs!

he may not have anything else to pay for, like rent. There are a lot of independent dealerships out there now who can sell these cars relatively cheap. They buy them at auctions. The dealerships have serious mark ups on them, and you consequently have to pay more at a dealership. There is also a glut of MZBs on the market, so they aren't as expensive as they used to be. I bought mine through an "independent" dealership for $26,000 vs the dealership for $38,000 . If you do that, make sure you get an extended warranty because you buy the car "as is" and you will eventually need the warranty to get something fixed.

They cant really afford it but some people have life twisted up side down. Some people live in an apartmwnt and have three and four cars. Things that are important to most of us are not that way for some. Ghetto!

He must be slinging a lot of dope there, doesn't seem like he worked for it. Since this person still lives home with mom...totally disgusting to hear when people abuse the system. That is why it is hard for those with honest intentions to receive help.

While this is an important question, I am more concerned if you can get some trim if you have a super fancy car and live in the projects.

Maybe its his mother that qualifies alone for her housing unit, and he has a good job, etc and just lives with her. This is a stereo-type question, that assumes those that have something nice who happen to be at a public housing unit must be scamming somehow. Maybe he stays with his mom to keep her complny, help care for her, or has broken it off with his significant other and needs a place to stay? who knows?
