I had my ears pierced a while ago, and I can now change them, but I've realised that they never actually told me how to remove them! I'm just wondering if the safety clutch at the back pulls off, or unscrews?

The backs of normal stud earrings pull off. Get another pair first, and pull the back off so you have an idea how much force it takes. My piercing studs have quite a large "bump" to keep the back on, so need a bit of a tug. Other earrings have just a little narrowing where the back sits, and the backs come off very easily.

The part of the earring that's been "in" the hole in your ear may be a bit gunky when you take them out. Just wash them with soap and water, or clean with whatever you have been using to clean your ears since they were pierced. Just remember that if you do this in or over a sink, put the plug in first!

Try pulling the backing off if it has an enclosed top. If the needle of the earing goes right through, pull it off. So basically, pull it of both ways. Also, make sure before you put on new earrings that you put alcohol on your ear holes so bacteria is killed. Do that with the earrings you just took off and the ones you are going to put in. This can prevent an infection

The earrings that you have in your ears right now, are "starter" earrings. The gauge (the thing that you put in your ear) is usually bigger than a normal earrings gauge. Starter earrings usually have a backing that can be hard to take off. Grab the front part of the earring, and grab the back part and pull. You will most likely have to really grab the back part with your fingernails to get it off.

If you still have problems, ask a friend to take them out for you.

most likely the little safety thing will just pull right off. other earrings have a little latch that you lift off. but since you have just had them pierced, the little doodad on the back will just pull off. just hold your earring, and slide it off...then after you pull it out of your ear put the "safety clutch" back onto the earring so you won't lose it.

They should just pull off. But if there on tight. Then hold the front of the earring. And gently wiggle the back of.

You shouldn't remove it to at least 2weeks/a month. To clean it get a saline solution and cotton wool and clean it whilst still in , if you remove it it will irritate it, don't take it out or play with it whilst healing as it will shred.you will get little scabs all around it. I wouldn't take it out again for another 2 weeks , 4 if you can. A good reputable piercer should of informed you about how to clean it and how to promote healing.

Hold the front of the earring in one hand and use the other to gently pull the clasp away from the ear.

If they are just pull offs then hold the earring and gently wiggle of the backing. If its a screw on then hold the earring and try screwing it left but if it doesnt work then try going right. Sorry, I'm not sure which way they screw off ...

The backs just pull off but do it gently if your ears are newly pierced. You don't need pliers or anything but your fingers!!

OMG!! Don't use pliers!!! It'll kill!!!

Best way is to numb the earlobe with ice, and then just pull the butterfly off the back. If you do it this way, you won't get the pinching pain.

Good luck!
