In this Australian Open, as with the last 10 or so grand slams, the results have been very predictable. But I don't watch tennis just for the upsets, the drama and the underdog performances. Each grand slam offers one player a place in history, or in Roger Federer's case, a greater place in history. He may make the men's game look predictable and boring, but he earns each match like every other player and by winning another grand slam, adds to his legacy. The fact that each grand slam offers such a great prize makes it exciting that Federer can make it 10, or that Nadal or Safin can make it 3, or that the other 100+ players who don't have a Grand Slam title can burst onto the scene and book their place in history. Whoever win, even if it's Federer, it's still a great performance and a great leap for the winner in his career. That is what is so great about tennis and sport in general... it's real, and many players achieve notable accomplishments.

I agree with Brad. It's not the Open that's boring, it's that the results are almost predictable and usual. That has and will happen at all tournaments until that player comes along that says "hey, I'm here to challenge you" and follows through with more than words and promises.

somewhat. the women are not playing too well especially. However, I think (and hope) that the men's final might actually be a thriller with some outstanding play on both sides. It would be nice...

the womens side is boring as ever but in men it is because federer always wins that makes it boring.
