The general rule is never hit with 16 or higher showing.
And Never, Never hit with a 20 showing that would be the worst time.

Well, the BEST time not to hit would be 21. But I think you are asking what is the lowest number recommended. It actually depends on what the dealer is showing up. As a general rule, you always assume he has a 10 down, and hit based on that. Or you could just pick a random number, like 16, and always hit below it and never on or above it. The most important thing to remember if you are going to do that is to keep the same strategy throughout the game, because changing it every hand puts the odds even more in the dealer's favor.

after playing "Black Jack" in Vegas....the advice I got from the dealer is to stay when you reach 14....you pretty much are guaranteed that the dealer will bust....but after all it is gambling....however...."Black Jack" odds are the best in the house...besides not gambling of course....but that strategy payed for the whole trip and I even returned with money in my pocket....good luck!!!

If the dealer is showing a 4,5, or 6 and you have anything over 11.

The best time NOT to hit is when u have 21 DUH!!!! If u have 15 or higher u shouldn't hit either. But 21 is definitly the WORST time to hit

Not hitting then would be pretty ideal.....
