Solicitors do provide, and charge for, this type of service. Normally you would deposit any legal papers and your will with them and then make sure that somebody who should knows who your solicitor is! My Dad also lodged a letter expressing his wishes about his funeral with the solicitor - he was played out to the tune 'Blue flame' which he even directed us to in his record collection!

I have a metal box with various things in it which I keep at Lloyds Bank. They charge me £25 a year (just £2 a month). The box is the size of an attache case - I bought it at B&Q for £15!

You can buy your own safe/fire-proof box to keep your important papers in. You can even bolt it to your floor so it can't be stolen. That way you'll have your papers at your fingertips when, and if, you need them and not be at the mercy of banking hours.

You can keep it with a family lawyer or you can get a safe at a bank or post office and keep it in that.
