My Axim X3 finally died, so I decided to look for new PDA.
Looking around I noticed that there are seems only two manufacturers in US that sell Pocket PC PDA - HP and Dell. So any suggestions I would really appreciate.

So I'm looking for mid price range (around $300) Pocket PC PDA that I will use for reading books (I was using program called Halli reader (SP?) on my Axim X3), playing games and some organizer functions. I do not particularly care for wireless internet or MP3 functionality. I do want to have SD card slot. And I definitely do not need GPS or Phone on this PDA.

So please let me know what would be ideal devise for my needs. Are any other companies (other then Dell and HP) I should consider?

All suggestions welcome!

I've mainly used Palm these past ten years.

They have phones

For me, it was the RAM and ROM storage space and ability to expand...add capabilities using both an SD and CF card slot, ability to download straight from my desktop computer, do Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Plus I like my notes program that allows me to handwrite notes then hit "recognize" and have it change my notes to type for easy downlad into Word. I like the wifi for getting mail and surfing the web when I'm in hotspots, but I rarely ever use the Bluetooth. I use the MP3 on it, but rarely the voice recorder that's built in. I wish it had a host USB port like the Toshiba did, so I could hook up a regular size USB keyboard to it, but the Belkin folding small keyboard is o.k. I also like having a PDA rather than Palm because I get loads of downloads for free off the web. I use an Axim X51V. I got it thru the Dell outlet as a refurbished model and paid a lot less than they are thru the same source new and it works great. There are a lot of them on ebay, but I wanted the warranty.

I got the Sprint PPC-6700 a nice pocket pc phone. I like it cuz it has a bigger window than the treo 700, cost me only $200 AFTER rebates. Plus you can turn the PPC-6700 on its side to use the screen long ways and then the keyboard slides out to use it.

The makes is like ATstar com or something like this. The PPC is available with other companies also. Most expensive phones come with GPS.

But I like this better than a regular PDA as you get everything plus a nice phone too.

Ive got a palm lifedrive so far as I know its still got the most memory for storage (4gig) wifi and bluetooth built in, SD slot, and a bunch more, I bought it awhile ago, and paid alittle over 300 for it, but I think its great. I use it for spreadsheets, surfing the internet, using the phone book to dial numbers with my cell phone via IR (dont have bluetooth on the cell) I also use it as a MP3 and video player..
