I want to get him one gag gift, but funny, not overly stupid (i.e. anything from Spencer's that says "over the hill"). Anyone got any good ideas?

I didn't mean to say 30 is over the hill, it's just that it's a milestone birthday and SOME people think it's old or whatever. Sheesh.

be kind on the gag gift if you are the younger one!! i will be having the 3-0 this year and my husband is 28 today and i don't know if i would appreciate any "old" cracks...but if you are the older one, have at it and have fun!!! i just like the cards that have the when you were born....bread cost two cents or something like that

Spencer's gifts used to have a pair of "Old Fart" slippers that pooted when you walked in them. I always thought that was an excellent gag gift. They also had a cane that had a bulb horn on it and something else, but it's been so long I can't remember. I must be getting old. There is also a saying, "Ain't he purty, but he's only thirty". I know, it's kind of corny.

I would go with "Don't trust anyone over 30" as a theme. There's a good graphic design that you could use as a hand-made card at this site:

More on the origin of the quote can be found here:

Hope that helps.

How about you in a bow of red and some wine and alone time.
Happy Birthday to hubby, I remember when I was 30. 18 years ago.

From Hallmark (I don't know if you have one in your place; they might be sold online), you can get him clothespins (to stop the snoring), an "Over the Hill" musical candle, and a set of chattering teeth (http://www.thegag.com/bt-0010.html). I think it would be kind of cool. ;)

I would go to the thrift store and get the ugliest plaid polyester pants and an ugly shirt too. Also you could get him black socks and white shoes. That way you won't send much money on something he will throw away!

You could get him customized toilet paper from the internet and get any pictures you want put on it. That might be fun to do, and put the roll out on his b-day.
