ok so i just bought a new pair of skates bec my old ones couldn't support my ankle, so i went to buy new ones. i am a size 12 shoe so i bought a pair of ccm skates that are a size 10.5 and that is the size that a 12 shoe should wear. It even says it has great ankle support, but i played last night and they had no support. there was to much room by the ankle. The skate fits except for the ankle. how can i fix this? do you think maybe it just needs to be broken in? shoud i tape it w/ stick tape? or that other tape (it kind of looks like packaging tape) what do you think?

I'm not positive it would help with ankle fit, but if they're bakeable skates it would probably be worth a try to get them baked and fitted by your local pro shop. Other things you could try are using waxed laces (to make sure they stay tight, and get a little longer lace that way you can wrap them clear around your ankle and tie them snug in the front).

All else fails.. go with the tape.

it's probally not broken in or you just have weird ankles(no offense). your should try either wrapping the laces around the back then tie them in the front to keep the tongue of the skate pressed firmly against your ankle...or you could use stick tape if your laces are the to short...i have the same problem with my skates so i use the laces...hope this helps

What you should do is go to a place that will measure your length and width (it is very important to get your width measured) so that you get the proper skate sizing. The 1 to 1.5 size less than shoe size is only a generalization. If you are passed the age of your foot growing pay the extra money and get custom skates.

I would go with the tape. Clear tape seems to work a little better then the stick blade tape
