I might be a little bias... But I like MJ switching hands in mid-air better. Because I grew up in the MJ ara and I witnessed it when it happened. I saw how amazed people were and I felt the emotion of it. It was incredible!

how about Steve Kerr's three in game 6 or John Paxon's three to win game 5. Just joshin ya.... MJ hanging switchin hands is one of my favorite finals shots of all time, but Dr. J's may have been better just because no one had seen anything like it before and it showed tremendous athletic ability for someone of his size!

The MJ shot was useless. No one challenged him in the lane. Vlade Divac didn't even jump and it's not like Vlade was a feared shot-blocker. The game was almost over anyway. I saw it live and this was my thought from that time on. Seriously, watch the replay, you'll see that no one really challenges him in the lane.
The Dr J shot, that was a shot. He had Kareem challenging him, an imposing center who DID block shots. Dr J HAD to make that move or else get blocked. So his was necessary, unlike Jordan's.

Although Jordan ended up winning his series and Dr J didn't, I'd have to go with Dr J. Jordan's hand switch was both spectacular and unnecassary (I can't remember who it was, but one of the Lakers, maybe AC Green looked like he was going up to challenge the right handed shot, but never left the ground). Dr J was stuck in the air, under the rim and pulled off something great to get himself out off a bad situation.

I saw them both when they happened. I go with Dr. J. Both were spectacular, but if you watch Jordan's move, it seems a bit unnecessary. There was no way his initial shot would have been blocked had he released it before switching hands. Dr. J had no shot until he pulled off that move. So, based upon necessity alone, I vote Dr. J.

Its got to be Jordan...You never see that DJ J play (Even tho that was sick) ever on TV unless its on a highlight show....Jordan jumped from a little inside the freethrow line, spilt defenders in the air and switched to his off hand to sink the layup...You c that play on TV over, and over, and over, and i dont know any1 who still dosnt get a smile every time they c that play....Even Magic said that was the best shot hes ever seen in his life, and hes been around a while........

Jordan...end of story
