All you have to do to answer this question is read a book co-written by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki "Why we want you to be rich" In it you will discover that the middle classes in the Western World are disappearing and the countries where the middle classes are growing are India and China. What is even more worrying is that America owes money than is available in all the bond and stock markets in th world.
So the answer is if our governments don't start making some very difficult decisions right away India will overtake the Western World economies long before 2050.

No India cannot overtake U.S. The reason it cannot overtake is because its economy is depended on U.S. There is growth only in the IT and its services, look at Indian agricultural it is in a pathteic state of affairs. All the investments are comming from US companies, so where does all the profit goes - to the US only.
There is not innovation taking place in India, all the innovation are done only in the US. If you could see US currency is depreciating with India currency, more of this happen would result in India losing its greatest advantage its price competitiveness.
This would result it the MNC companies investing in other cheaper countries.

This is already happening in the BPO sector, most of the US companies are looking for other alternatives like east European countries and other Asian counties.

Inspite of all this India population is set to overtake china this would result in further burden in its natural resources. But would in turn lead to higher GDP this is the only India could overtake US.

It relies upon on any such number of factors regardless of the actuality that would not it? you've were given to ask your self how the USA of a receives over it is tremendous oil intake complications. Will there be any wars? Will technologies save the day for the USA of a? on the different hand, the USA of a, India and China are eating each and everything they could be able to and are feeding off the Earth's supplies like vultures. How lengthy can the Earth keep up that? the international is so risky immediately, there are wars sparking off, organic failures can play a huge area too. you've even were given to ask your self - is it precise that China and India have an area software, even as any such number of tens of millions of their personal people stay in utter poverty? tremendous capacity? it is only a body of ideas. And if China and India are to be such tremendous powers, how come my usa (the united kingdom) sends £ billions in help to them each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days? So, who's the authentic tremendous capacity? it is going to be the single which also stands even as some thing of the international has blown up. perchance a rustic that conserves it is supplies quite than one which gobbles them up.

There are fronts in which US is ahead but there are fronts in which India is ahead and will always remain ahead. India has lot of unique features that is giving it an edge over US however if India continues to imitate US way of life and its idealogy etc then India is doomed. Unfortunately that is the way India is heading and its a pity. If India is wishing to get ahead of US materially it may have to give up a lot on the religious and cultural front and is that a good thing? I dont think so.

India is one of the most exploited nations right now. In the name of globalisation and market economy, only consumerism has picked up in India.
Pepsi and Coke have replaced the entire local bottling industry. They have neatly killed Indian bottling industry.
The same thing has happened in the television Industry,
Very soon it will happen in Indian Computer industry. and in Automobiles, Textiles, Iron and steel, etc. They will come and eat away entire Indian Industry. Thanks to our leaders and our own executives, who will do any thing (including selling their own mother.. land) for getting more salary.
And just like in the case of cool drinks, we will be unconsciously paying more for every thing.
What you are seeing now is only the surface. If you get down below the surface, you will see the ugly truth.
Very soon, we will be working hard to send more profits outside the country.
Did you see the Growth pattern in GDP. Its only IT industry thats growing. No real development in Agri and Industry sectors.
75% of India, still living in Villages is not educated. They are jobless and starving. They have not seen the development which the metro and capital cities have seen.
Where as in Japan and Israel, where there is not much land, productivity and per capita production is more than India.
Its only a few elite Indian citizens in MNCs in collaboration with global black money agents are actively operating in the IT industry and Stock market and Real estate market.
Very soon we are going to be robbed of, a lot more of our wealth.
Yes, we were looted by Inavders once.
Now, its economic colonisation. This time we are never going to get freedom. The business houses will ensure that even if nations collapse, the people of India remain dependant on them for ever.
No escape. The economy is already put on the irreversible conveyor belt. Thanks, to the executives, trained and brainwashed by the interantional institutions, to beleive in the ideology of globalisation.

The development we are proud of now, is only an illusion. The real development, as Mahatma Gandhi dreamed, is only when a landless villager, gets job round the year and when all in his family residing in own hut (not house) has 3 meals a day (atleast 3600 calories).
The dream is very very distant.

But do you want to become super power atleast by 2050. (its too late for 2020...)
We have already been taught the secret by none other than our mother.
If you want to become good in studies, try to study yourself. Or the best technique, is to simply follow all the things what the best student in the class does. You will automatically become a good student.

You all will agree with me on the above technique.
To become a superpower. Use your brain and do the right things.
Or atleast copy, what the best nation is doing.
Right now, only China is comparable to India in many ways.
So let us copy China in all the social and economic policies.
We will automatically become developed.
Who knows, we may even become better than China.

Productivity growth will help India sustain over 8% growth until 2020 and become the second largest economy in the world, ahead of the US, by 2050, Goldman Sachs has said, scaling up estimates of the country's prospects in its October 2003 research paper widely known as the BRICs report. .......................

Surely the Kosher will award the Hindi, and the koshi, as
the leaders of the internet in hiring and firing. Although with
the television so close behind in the information services, they
are likely to acknowledge their lifestyle is unique. In this way a
true parable of the faith tells us, an Indian of the space age,
is not filling space, only with themselves. Do you understand,
yes by then they will have gotten over it.

I don't think so. We have 5000 years of history and they have only 200 and they have achieved in 200 years what we are hoping to achieve in the next 50 years. So our targets must be realizable. It can be achieved but seeing our progress in the front of Environmental developement it seems impossible environment means even economic as well as ecology.
