i drive a manual mazda navajo and yesterday i started my car just fine but when i turned on the heater the battery went dead. i was able to restart my car without the heater on but the low battery light remained on. at lunch i changed the battery and every thing registered fine for the rest of the day even with the heater on, but when i started my car this morning and turned the heater on it made the battery light come on again. does anyone have any idea whats going on? or what i need to do to fix the problem?

sounds like a weak alternator, go to your local auto-zone and have them test it. They do this free of charge.

get your charging system checked out, sounds like the alternator is bad or you have something draining it while the car isn't running, make sure the battery is fully charged and then when you park the car for the night take the positive terminal off the battery and the next morning put the terminal back on and start it up and see if when you turn the heater on it does the same thing, if it doesn't you have something draining your battery such as a trunk light on.

Not to be flippant, but you have an electrical problem. It seems like something in the heater, like the blower motor is continuing to run when the car is turned off. The diagnosis for this problem will require a certain amount of expertise in automotive electrical troubleshooting.
