where on the internet can i find out if my address is in the town/city limits.

Try the county tax assessor collector's website.
I know for our county, they have a website for the County Central Appraisal District, you can look up the tax data on there, OR, the state might have a website that will give you the taxing authorities for them.

If you want to find it online... go to google.com and type in the name of your county followed by "gis" for example... for our county... http://ashegis.ashecountygov.com/webgis/... on this one when you zoom in, everything inside the town limits is yellow.

Why search online when all you have to do is call your county assessor office and they'll be happy to tell you?
