I'm pregnant w/ my first child (third trimester). I plan on breastfeeding and know there are nursing bras and gowns but am totally clueless as to what kind, size etc. to pick out. For the nursing bra, do I just pick my regular bra size - I'm still wearing my regular bras comfortably. And as for the nursing gown, which kind would be appropriate to take to the hospital? Or will the hospital be providing me with a nursing gown while I'm there? I searched at walmart.com and found a maternity nursing gown by Bestform for $11.96. Is this ok to take w/ me to the hospital on the day of delivery or what kind did you all use? They also have some nursing bras, Playtex Expectant Moments nursing bra for $23.50 and they also have a Bestform sports nursing bra for only $11.71. Links for 2 of these items below.

You should go to Motherhood Maternity. They have a large selection and are trained to answer questions and help with fittings. Wal-mart probably has a teenager working the dressing room area and their clothes are poor quality. Good Luck!

Ther hospital will provide you with nursing gowns, but bring your own if you want to wear it for photos, or just to feel more comfortable. I gave up on nursing gowns pretty quick, as it was hard to find the slits in the middle of the night. I prefer night gowns or pajama tops that button up the front. Then you can unbutton them from the bottom and stay covered, or the top and just whip it out !-)
I love my nursing tanks from Target (similar to the ones you posted) but I would warn against them if you have a decent sized chest. i am a B cup at most, and they are snug on me, even the extra larges!
As far as size goes. I went from a 36 A to a 38 B. If your band size has stayed the same, i would just go up a cup size for nursing. Your breasts will reach peak production in a couple weeks, then they will even out and not change size too radically after your nursing relationship is well established.
Your best bet is to buy one or 2 in the next size up, then you have something to wear when you go shopping for the right size!
Yes! nursing bras arer my favorite. They are inexpensive, cotton and cute too!
Motherhood Maternity makes a really nice sleeping bra too, for those first few weeks when you need to wear nursing pads so as not to flood the bed! lol!

Buy the nursing bra that fits you now. You may go up in size slightly, but not that much. Don't worry about the brand of bra. Just worry about the fit. The bras I bought in my last trimester (from the Motherhood store) fit me fine after birth. I bought a nursing gown with my first child, and I never used it. I wore my hospital gown the entire time I was there. You probably won't want to change clothes right away, as you have so much more on your mind. I pretty much stayed in t-shirts and sweats once I came home. Just go with what you will be comfortable with. I am 29.

I'm 28 and breastfeeding my second child. I found that I only used nursing gowns/shirts for the first six weeks or so before I just ended up lifting my shirt instead. It was more comfortable for me that way. I have been wearing a nursing bra for nearly three years, though (since my first child was born, who nursed until I was pregnant with my second child, who is still nursing now!) I found the kind that latch at the top of the cup to be the easiest to use, but it's a very personal choice and you will probably want to experiment with a couple different kinds before investing in one particular kind. Don't stock up on any one kind before your baby is born; your breast size with change dramatically after your milk comes in, and then gradually go back down. Hey I am 28 and on my second pregnancy. 1st you breasts are going to swell immensely after the baby is born and the milk comes in. You want a bra that is snug but not too tight. Personally I would suggest one a size bigger then your current size. I would also bring a nursing gown with you to the hospital b/c hospital gowns are uncomfortable but you probably want to by 2 incase you get blood on your 1st gown. (or buy in white so you can bleach it). Good luck and Walmart has some good buys but also so does sears and the quality is a bit better and will last longer.

I bought all kinds of nursing bras and I loved the Bestform. I got the ones without underwire because I had one that had underwire and I hated it. I was wearing a 38c while prego and I bought a 40D for my nursing bra. I also got the bestform gown that says mommy all over it and has the two openings in the front and it was so comfortable. I bought 2 of those nursing gowns and 2 nursings bras in that type and size.

A nursing dress is form of a nightgown yet made for breastfeeding moms -a lot less stressful acces ;) the same applies for nursing bras. No there is not any go with so that you'll positioned on a nursing bra in case you dont go with to, ideas you your boobs will be larger and finished of milk so no longer wearing some thing wouldnt be too comfortable. per chance once you're at domicile it is going to likely be as a lot as you. you should positioned on your popular bras and as for push up bras you wont go with them! Your boobs will be larger in any case! For nursing a new child it is each and every few hours, you should carry or eliminate your bra for each feeding.. you your self will locate what works precise for you. And as for garments you could positioned on some thing you want!! you'd be nursing an infant no longer turning out to be a senior citizen! So any type you want is fantastic! I under no circumstances wore a nursing dress yet I did positioned on nursing bras they were tremendous for generic feedings, only unstrap and voila! good luck!

Something I didnt see mentioned...lasinoh for tender breasts and they do get very sore bc both you and the baby are learning how to nurse. I have 3 kids the first one I could only breastfeed for a few months, then I learned the secret of conditioning my nipples with lasinoh ointment. There are other kinds. You can apply the cream to you nipples a week or 2 prior to delvery to condition them. Then apply after nursing so the ointment has time to absorb and the baby doesnt get a mouthful. Also a light weight cape (walmart 6-8 dollars) is great bc then you can wear whatever shirt you want and not have to worry about buttons or openings etc. Its a great way to bond with your baby....I wish you the best of luck. Try not to order them online. You need to try them on. If you haven't changed sizes as of yet you will. Be sure to buy it roomy. Also, I have read that you shouldn't use under-wire nursing bras. My most important advice to any nursing mom is to be sure you can open and close the flap on the bra with one hand. It really is most helpful if you ever need to be discreet.
As far as the gown, you really don't need one in the hospital. They need to attach all kinds of things to you and it is just easier to have a hospital gown. It does make nursing easier at home when nursing in the middle of the night to have one.
Oh, but do be sure to take nursing bras and nursing pads ( you stick them in your bra for leaking milk... Lansinoh is the BEST), and breast cream (also Lansinoh product) with you to the hospital. Pack it now! It is a must. Use the cream before and after you nurse.

for the first bra go to motherhood store or high end maternity store, they will measure you and help with what size to get, buy one there or none then you know the right size i would not get too many before baby comes you will be very surprised about 2 days after baby is born, baby's r us has great pj's and nursing needs, look in thrift stores they usually have lots of nice tops, I am a breastfeeding mom to five, it is not necessary to buy all the "stuff", wait til you start feeding and then buy what YOU need but the bras are a must

Get a size 1 up from your regular size, in both ribcage and cup. Wait until you're nursing to get more though, and then send someone out with the size and brand to get more. Until then it's difficult to tell, and you don't want to get a bunch of bras that don't fit. As for the nursing gown, in the hospital at least, the gown they gave me seemed sufficient for nursing (it snapped from the shoulder).
