I am writing a short story in which one of the main characters is the angel of death. I would like him to have a name though. nothing to sinister sounding- he is not evil.
please dont suggest michael or gabriel, etc.

Yes J K I think I know what I am doing. My angel of death is not evil - he is misrepresented by the job he does.

Dave! Because, face it, nobody thinks a Dave is sinister. Have you heard the expression "He's such a Dave!" before?

Possibly Daniel, which means "God is my Judge" which would make your character seem that he is only doing the job God told him to do.
Also, you could name him Eric after the lead singer of the Animals who sang the song "Oh Lord, Please don't let me be misunderstood." That's the song your mention of him being misunderstood reminded me of.
