I've used Onduline. The manufacturers recommend that the purlins are spaced closer together than with galvanised steel sheeting. Ideally they recommend that you cover the roof with ply or sterling board and then use Onduline on the top. Use plastic seals on the screws to prevent leaks, exactly the same as with steel or glassfibre sheeting.

You should only have the outer four edges of screws visable after you have put the entire roof down. The beginning row and the ending row. Thats because you overlap the next piece over the last as you progress accross the roof. You can also put down a little sealant where the screws are going to go to ensure they do not leak. And, as Patches6 said, use washers to get better coverage and strength.

It should not if you use the nails with washers that is made for it...
