Why do feel that today's society put too much emphasis on a persons appearance?

Like being over weight or not having a face of a goddess ect,

Looking good has an impact on (at least) two things: 1. Your chances in being successful (sad, but seems to be true). 2. Your chances of finding a partner.

While many of us look beyond a person's looks to who they are and how they think, themajority goes along with the popular concept of what is "good looking". The mass media probably is one of the largest influences on what the majority thinks in this case.
