Peer pressure, and the 'dumbing down' of the U.S. in the ways we are taught as children. I do NOT put any emphasis on how a person looks, but do put a lot of emphasis on how a person ACTS, but even that isn't the BEST thing, because our 'moods' can change rapidly, and we can be totally 'cranky' one day and really super nice the next, but if I only saw you when you were 'cranky' I might not like you very much, and if you were 'nice' I might think more of you than you are actually worth. In other words, we need more time to 'get to know one another' before we say anything about each other ... but this world is so 'full of stuff to do' and so 'self-centered' that I just hope you don't run over me because you're too busy talking on your phone when you should be paying attention to the road.
